I would tell others that they need to really check on the meal programs. The meals come from an outside source and the wait staff sometimes are not very good for this environment of people. The food is not very food and that was one of the things that we were sold on. There are a few things they need improvements on but overall we have been very happy with The Homestead at Rochester.... The nurse manager is constantly belittling and degrading staff; the caring staff don't stay long. She disregards resident/patient requests. Several times we have reported Mom did not receive pain meds, yet nurse manager claims they were given, while Mom endures intolerable pain. We were unable to find out what happened to meds ordered for Mom yet not given to her; somehow they "disappeared". This nurse manager is very rude and dismissive. Mom had been at this facility for over a year and we were finally able to move her to a much better facility with caring staff, proper medication administration.

Mom has been there about 2 years. Everything was great for about 14 months. Change in upper management sunk the ship. There are no employees there from 2 years ago. The temps they are using do not Care!!! It was a month of no showers, no crushed medicine, no laundry, ect. The lobby has NO one at counter to let anyone in or help anyone. Price keeps going up . This is the memory care side. Moving to [facility removed].

Our family had a tour experience, and our father was actually a resident there for rehab and we really liked it. However, they did not have assisted living which was what we were looking for.
This place is amazing. Clean, friendly, so many amenities, food is excellent, staff is over the top helpful. Residence is homey and so well designed.

This community was okay, availability was the only reason we did not go with this community
We chose The Homestead because of the general appearance it is more up scale. They also had the option to make a down payment to reduce the monthly rent. The apartment sizes are awesome, they are very clean and have fresh paint and new carpet. The internet that is included in rent has been the only complaint, it is very slow. I would definitely recommend to others looking.

The personal care at Homestead that our loved one is receiving is great. The friendliness of the aids and nurses has been great, however there has been some behind the scene changes in management and people leaving. The house keeping on the memory care said used to be fantastic, but they have left and been without house keeping for about 2 months now. The grounds at Homestead are very nice and have nice walking paths to take advantage of.

We toured The Homestead and it was a very nice quality place. I did not feel the value was good, it was very expensive and it was all self pay.

A Place for Mom has scored The Homestead at Rochester 1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
