The memory care staff is very kind and sweet with their residents. While I know Mom doesn't have the 1 on 1 care she had at home, she is safe, and treated kindly. Her room is typically in good shape. Have had clothes, sheets, towels, shoes and socks go missing in laundry. It is supposed to be done individually there and I've not received a satisfactory response to that issue. I would not recommend use of the in house beauty salon there.... Read more

My loved one is on the memory care side and things have improved but would like to see more attention to personal grooming and overall cleanliness.

I am concerned about the fact that my mother is on large doses of pain medication, and The Glenn offers a " Happy Hour" every day at 4 p.m. When visiting my mother during this time, they asked her if she wanted her usual. She said, "yes". They poured her half a glass of Jack Daniel's over ice. A couple of months later, my relatives reported that she had celebrated the first game of the season for the University of Georgia Football team and had over imbibed. She fell out of bed in the middle of the night and split her forehead open, had to have stiches, and had two black eyes. While I support a lifestyle that allows residents to socialize and have a drink, I do not support overserving disabled elderly. Also, my brother, who is a convicted felon is allowed to go freely in and out of this community of vulnerable elderly. This is a big family issue and a point of contention, but it should not be ignored by the administration. As far as I know, they let him come and go freely.

When it comes to the meals and dining - my mother has gained significant weight; I have shared my concern with staff. Would also suggest that since most of the residents are in their 80's and 90's that the staff plays music for their generation at meals instead of from 1980's and 1990's.

The apartment between residents could use deep cleaning by a professional service. Housekeeping the community provided was good when my loved one was there. The care services were very good. The staff were great and wonderful. I do feel they were short handed as the staff they had wore many hats. The residents had lots of options for meals. The food was fine when we ate with our loved one. There were a lot of activities offered. Outings, resident council, and more for the residents to participate in. My loved one wishes they never left The Glen. I don't think my loved one realized how much they would miss all the people and activities offered.

I would recommend The Glen to others for their loved ones. The care for the individual resident and the way the staff go above and beyond for the residents stand out to me. The food has been very good for my loved one. Some of the activities offered include games, sing alongs, interactive games, and more for the residents to choose from.

Moved in December 2019 my husband and I on June 29, 2021 my husband passed. So this review will be since his passing. The Glen community comes together for many different things of showing care and keeping us all involved BUT when a dear loved one passing there are not enough write or right words to explain their caring and help to the whole family of that loved one who is gone.

My family member is in the memory care unit and a Receiver has taken over the building for non-payment of mortgage payments. He has cut staffing and supplies and has no idea what he is doing. The memory care looks like a min-nursing home unit. Several families have already moved out and we are next. Do not place your loved one in this over rated building.

We chose The Glen at Lake Oconee because we thought it was the best in terms of programming, cleanliness, and amenities as well as the friendliness of staff members. The apartment sizes here are comfortable. I think the sense of family that they encourage is great. I would absolutely recommend to others

We chose The Glen because of the location for the most part. They have all different sizes of rooms available to choose from, they are very nice size and even have space for guests. The food here is chef prepared and you get choices off of a menu. I would recommend.

Some of the staff was excellent and some of the staff was not friendly at all. They did not provide any activities which they blamed on COVID. They did not care about their residents, they did not change them on a regular basis. He had bed sores that no one mentioned. He was not hydrated and had to be taken to the hospital on multiple occasions. Awful care services. No communication between the staff, residents, and their families. Don't let the look of the facility deceive you, we were extremely disappointed.

Activities they provided were card playing, they had music as well as a happy hour. The location was great, the size of the apartment was great, room size was good as well. Would recommend this to a family or friend. Food would go from either very poor to excellent, wasnt very consistent.

As a medical social worker and a certified care manager. I had a host of requirements when looking for an assisted living community for my mother. The Glen checks all the boxes – caring and attentive staff, a beautiful environment, well – coordinated medical care, great communities, enriching activities, an all of food options, personalized care and security. We can rest well knowing our mother gets stellar care.
