After my mother moved out of her apartment in The Gables and into assisted living, my family spent more than $[removed] paying for a vacant apartment until it was resold. The contract says that you must pay the full monthly service fee for a vacant apartment, just as if there is someone living there, eating three meals a day and using all the services. My mother moved out before [date removed] and the apartment wasn’t sold until the following September. We paid almost $[removed] a month for the vacant space. Of course, we think some sort of minimum maintenance fee to keep the lawn mowed/roads plowed, heat on, would be fair. We think having to pay the full monthly service fee is unfair and greedy. Overall the staff giving direct service to my mother were great. The administration was difficult to deal with.

A Place for Mom has scored The Gables at East Mountain 3 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
