One thing we really appreciate is the care and attention our loved one receives. They have activities but they could use a little more.

Most of the staff at The Chateau of Lawton was caring and friendly. They had very few activities for the residents except watching TV. The only home health care provider allowed to take care of residents was one owned by the Chateau owner's wife. They suggested putting my dad on hospice because of the financial advantages and then proceeded to dose him with morphine which he didn't need. He quickly became unresponsive and died three days later. One staff member told me about the morphine and then later would not discuss it with me. My dad was very sweet and compliant and not in any pain. I can't recommend the Chateau.

Horrible experience with my mother. Moved in [dates removed] and after 6 weeks living there, she spent the next 6 weeks in hospitals before passing at home with Hospice. The administrators there were cold, callous and tried to throw my mother out before she had options on where to safely go to. [name removed] lied to my face while looking me in the eye. I wouldn’t send my worst enemy to this facility.

I like the facility and the atmosphere, it is a really nice place. It is smaller with less residents and the staff is extremely friendly and seem to really care about my loved one. The problem I have had is my loved one has some physical problems and the doctors have told us she needs physical therapy. They kept telling me they were able to provide that and as of yet it has not happened. The manager can be defensive if you ask her questions about things so we are kind of getting the run around about that. They do have a home health and hospice program that they run out of the facility. I really like the people and the place but the care has been frustrating.

Great tour, people are great. Not a great fit for my loved one.
I would recommend the community to others, as my loved one is getting pretty good care here. My loved one enjoys the food that is offered to the residents. There could be more activities offered to the residents to engage them more.

I would tell others The Chateau of Lawton was a great place. The Director is warm and goes out of their way to help the family and residents. The community has a family feel to it. The food was fine for my loved one.

Though my parents chose not to go to an assisted living facility the assistance/information provided by [name removed] was invaluable and greatly appreciated.

We chose The Chateau of Lawton because of the care that they said they were able to provide without using medication. When you walk in, it seems like a hotel, it does not have the institutional feeling. The staff has been excellent to work with. The room sizes here are really nice compared to some others places we saw. Overall, we have been very pleased with our choice, it is a very clean and nice facility.

Overall we are happy with The Chateau of Lawton. It is smaller community and it is more affordable. She has been very happy with their food, they are fresh meals prepared on site. The two issues we have had is this facility seems like it is majority of memory care residents here and my mother in law doesn't have any memory issues, so it is making it hard for her to make friends. I gave the activities a lower score because they did not have an activity director for a long time. They just hired one but she is also a nurse so it seems like they are short handed at the time. Overall, I would recommend, if they had better activities it would make this a 5 star facility.

My mom is acclimating quite well at The Chateau of Lawton. It is a beautifully well-maintained community. The staff is very friendly and caring. They are responsive to each of the resident's individual needs. I feel very good about the security and safety of my mom's well-being in this community. They provide activities that the residents enjoy. My mom loves the morning exercise group. Mom has no complaints about the food so we know the food is excellent. They provide transportation for outings for the residents, my mom loves the excursions to see new places.

A Place for Mom has scored The Chateau of Lawton 6.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
