I was extremely nervous about moving my parent into the Boyne City facility from reading the reviews. My Mother has been there for three months now and absolutely loves it!!! They are under new management and are fully staffed with staff that's extremely caring and passionate about caregiving!! And some of the staff are licensed. (They technically don't have to be legally to pass basic meds) the facility is clean very well-kept. My mother absolutely adores the activities, they accommodate all her dietary needs. The staff go above and beyond. If I could live there I would!!! Lol... Read more

Like the title says, the building looks nice and well designed, clean appearance. Clean and uncluttered inside, nice. The reason for a low overall rating is poor management. From slow communication replies to not getting scripts filled(and running out of scripts) which is awful. Unable to give simple food requests (one item for one meal) per day. Totally understaffed! They shouldn't have as many residents with the few staff that are working. I know I'm forgetting some things but will stop here.

No housekeeping, excessive cost for medication not administered, untrained/unlicensed personnel left in charge of facility, one unlicensed caregiver left alone for 12 hour night shift is the norm. Cost of meals excessive. Meals cold, in paper takeout containers, dirty/used paper containers not removed. Apartment infested with ants...................prisoners get more respectful treatment and are safer.

The Brook is situated in a beautiful country setting on the outskirts of Boyne City. The staff welcomed us and gave us a very informative tour of the home. The facility was lovely and clean, but the darker interior colors weren't as uplifting as another home we toured. Also they didn't offer a memory care program that is very important to our family. We left with a packet of information and felt very good about our tour.

In retrospect, I am very disappointed our family chose the Brook of Boyne. I feel like we were told everything we wanted to hear to move in, but very little is actually true. Some of the staff are wonderful, but most of them seem overworked, understaffed and can't be bothered. Management is not helpful and lacks basic customer service skills or compassion. Phones are not answered. Very unprofessional. Our experience has not been great. I wish there were more options in the area.

So far everything at The Brook of Boyne City has been a 5! The staff here are very nice and friendly, and very respectful towards the people they are looking after. The facility is clean and well kept. They also seem to have a good variety of activities, although my loved one does not personally participate much.

My mom moved into "the Brook" in Gaylord. She is presently in the independent living 2 bedroom apartment. Very nice apartment with ample space. At any time she could change to assisted living . She makes her own breakfast and lunch. She goes to the dining room for dinner . She enjoys the company for dinner with the other residents. She is not excited about the food and would probably rate it " fair" . She likes the activities , bingo , movies . But personally I wish they had more activities to offer. We are pleased with cleanliness , and the people who work there. She has been there 9 months.
