Food: Nasty, overdone, not appealing at all. Activities: None, unless you call the TV or radio on as a social activity. Personal Hygiene: good luck if you get a shower one time a week. Room cleanliness: good luck if housekeeping spends more than 2-3 mins. in the room. Security: hall door does not lock so others can come in your room and take your things. Laundry services will over bake your laundry in hot dryer or splash bleach all over your items adding a special touch for sure. Caregivers: spend most of their time on their phones not helping the residents. Don't send your person here-you will regret it.

I had a good tour of this community. From what I saw everything looked nice and clean. They do a good keeping the community well maintained. The staff was informative and kind. It was a good experience, but unfortunately this was not the place for my mother and her needs. It is a good community with friendly people.

This community seemed like it was for residents that had other care needs besides Alzheimers. It seemed a bit depressing. It was clean and the people during our tour were nice. This community just did not fit our needs.

I have heard that this is a great place for my mom. So, I researched and researched for places and always came back to the Alois. They seem to be most qualified and ideal. Highly recommend this place to friends and family.

I really appreciate the care which is being provided to my mother by the staff at Alois. It is the best place for her. The only things I would change are: 1. I would like to see her offered more activities, but I realize this is difficult given her condition. 2. I also would like to have a primary contact person that I can call regarding all matters.

Overall I am very pleased. I wish it were nearer to where I live but I knew that going in. What impressed me most is the fact that they have been in this longer than anyone else. Any problems I have had are simply learning the ropes.

Dad arrived at Alois on December 23, 2014. He had been declining rapidly over the Summer and Fall. He began "wondering" and we knew we needed help. We tried in home help which did not work beause he would not let my mother leave the house. In early November we found a new Alzheimer's facility in Cincinnati but Dad became very combative (which was the opposite of his personality). The facility kept sending him to the psychiatric ward of a Cincinnati hospital to change his medication. It became clear that this facility did not have the capability to care for him. Through "A Place for Mom" I was told about Alois. I was apprehensive at first because it was 20-25 minutes away from Mom but we did not see any other choice. From the day Dad arrived he was calm and seemed comfortable. My hat goes off to the employees who know what they are doing and are so loving and patient with everyone who is there. They are very good about communicating with our family. Alzheimer's is hard enough to witness as a family member but Alois only deals with this disease which I feel is such a plus. Alois has helped make a very difficult time in our life bearable.

I was very concerned about moving my mom to another facility but due to changes in her health she could not stay in assisted living. My main concern was she going to go down hill even further due to the change of environment. From the minute we arrived with mom they were very warm and friendly. You really felt like they were glad to meet her. They are experts in dementia and Alzheimer. Since my mom has been there she is engaged in the on site activities, which she rarely would do before. When she first moved in the nurse would call me and let me know how she was doing just about every day. The facility itself has a warm feeling to it. The lobby is nice but not overdone. It's comfortable. I believe my mom is getting excellent care. The staff is a very caring group of people.

My wife has been here for about 6 weeks, so I am still on a learning curve. The biggest problem for me is the 35 minute drive time. I have attended caregiver meetings and the staff has been very helpful. My wife spends too much time in her room and am trying to encourage her to participate in activities. Hope that improves with time. Visiting with our dogs is a big plus.

My mother needed to be in a secure facility since she is at high risk of wandering. Of all the places I toured in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area, Alois seemed to offer the most respect to those high risk individuals. She loves to walk to the sunroom and read. I'm anxious for her to get a chance to enjoy the gardens where she will be able to plant her own flowers! That is another thing that made me feel like I made the right decision. She can still go outside and enjoy a bit of gardening. I'm starting to see her former self come out of the shell she had retreated into the last few years at home. The Alzheimer's Information presentation offered at Alois I had attended there 4 years earlier, really prepared me for what to expect as this disease progresses. So it helped to understand when to recognize the time for more care. The outside activities and Lunch Club are handled very well. the inside activities are difficult to arrange due to everyone's ability to care for the same thing. But for those who get involved have fun. I know my mother is safe and among residents who are happy and active and a staff that is attentive, caring and able to handle the good and the bad parts of this disease.

They're doing a really excellent job taking care of our loved one here, it is the perfect fit for her. She had issues with both memory and falling, and we were having a lot of trouble finding somewhere to handle those issues adequately, but Alois is able to provide a very secure and safe environment. It's a lovely facility, and the care is fantastic. The staff are all very friendly, and they do a great job looking after their residents.

Alois IS where my mom belongs! From day one she has been happy there. This is the 5th place we have tried for her and I wish we had found it earlier. She considers it home!

I think they are a great facility. I appreciate that there is a place just for people with dementia. I thought the staff was great. She wasn't there very long so I can't comment on a lot, but the staff was caring.

This is a wonderful place and things are going well. The food could be a little better, the nursing care has been fantastic. The occupational and physical therapy is very good. Everyday has a number of activities, and weekly off-campus activities if they choose to go. There really isn't anything that I would change or do different.

The people who work at the Alois Alzheimer Center are caring, kind and respectful to the residents. The Center is a good value and provides good care. My mother is in the Assisted Living section, which offers the lowest care-level in the facility. I toured the entire facility and should my mother ever need the highest levels of care I trust she would be treated with dignity and gentleness. The Center has trouble keeping activities staff and finding activities appropriate to the population. I wish my mother had more fun things to do, such as a watercolors class, but she seems content. The staff makes sure she out of bed, dressed, and socially engaged with the other residents everyday. That is a welcome change from her previous facility where she was encouraged to sleep away her remaining days. I would like to see the Center be more communicative with the families and to fully disclose their billing practices. While their prices are lower than many other comparable facilities, they are far less transparent about their pricing structure. As my mother declines I may need to move her to a facility that is more open about its care costs in order to best manage her funds. For now, the Alois Alzheimer Center is a great fit for our family's needs. Overall, I would recommend this facility for Cincinnati-area seniors with severe dementia.
