I’m writing this on behalf of my brother [name removed] who’s experienced TenderCare at Harvey Park and University Hills. In one of my last visits he was in his room listening to jazz and drawing. I was so appreciative that he could express his interests and passions even in the last months of life. [name removed] often spoke with tenderness about his caregivers and felt appreciation for the help, patience, and kindness they gave him as well as the companionship of those living around him. They were very accommodating in helping my brother and his specific needs. I work in hundreds of ALFs per year as a Home Health Therapist. I was appalled at the Verbal abuse the caregiver inflicted on my 80 year old patient with dementia this week, and she has no supervision, is completely alone all day with these vulnerable older folks. The owner [name removed] is 80 years old herself and does not take action when residents complain. The two caregivers each work 24 hour shifts 4 days in a row and are obviously overworked. I wouldn't send my worst enemy here. I called the police today because I witnessed verbal abuse and neglect.
