Sycamore Glen Retirement

Sycamore Glen has been a wonderful senior living experience for my Mom. The staff has been exceptional in aiding this stage of life. They are kind, supportive, attentive and caring individuals from the servers in the dining room to the administrators. I value their dedication and the comfort it gives me to know that my Mom is living in such a secure and caring environment and where they take her needs seriously.

It has been five years since my parents moved into Sycamore Glen. My family immediately felt that Sycamore Glen was the right residence for them. The common spaces are so inviting with cozy places to read, do puzzles, shoot pool, play cards and just hang out together. The staff is very welcoming, attentive and know the residents by name. Lots of activities are offered to keep residents healthy, engaged and entertained! We like the movie room and gym, and there is even the opportunity to garden if one has a green thumb! After visiting for so many years, we are occasionally eating in the dining room as guests now. We can testify that the food is quite good, with plenty of choices and always dessert! The interior and exterior are always well maintained and the staff does of wonderful job of decorating for the festive holidays! We love visiting Sycamore Glen and feel confident that our loved ones are secure and taken care of. But probably most important is that our parents love it too!

I thought so! Retire here and you will be! Excellent chef cooking 3 times a day or you can cook in your room. Just ask for the ingredients you need. There are numerous fun activities offered by our wonderful activity director. There is a monthly birthday dinner and if Thanksgiving is anything like those dinners it will be awesome. Security is all important and there is a wonderful list of helpers from housekeepers to fix it personnel. You just have to ask for help and you will get it. Each apartment has a spacious patio with a fence and enough floor space for a couch, recliners, bookshelves, tables and consoles. Satellite TV and internet are included. Sycamore Glen is an apartment complex community which provides a rich experience for seniors of varying capabilities and needs. The phenomenal staff have extensive experience, skills and adaptability to provide outstanding services for enhancing and extending the lives of aging singles and couples in retirement. The community includes a full range of residents from fully independent to those with varying and changing health, social and emotional needs. They have provided continuous routine and crisis assistance to our family in caring for our mother since we are unable to personally provide daily care and special needs as she ages. Living in Sycamore Glen is most fortunately delaying mom's decline and need to move to a full assisted living facility.

My parents have been living here at Sycamore Glen since they were displaced from the Paradise Camp Fire in 2018. My dad has since passed on but both received the best experience here. The cafeteria is amazing. The cleaners are super. There are so many creative activities to explore and special events to attend. The van will take them on outings or to appointments they need to go to. But most of all they have a loving and caring staff who make Sycamore Glen a joy to be a part of. It is a blessing to have my mom in this family environment.

My mom and I toured every retirement community in Chico and settled on Sycamore Glen. As her daughter, I see that the staff goes above and beyond in making sure the residents are comfortable, happy and safe. The staff seems to genuinely CARE about the residents. I have seen the staff personally help my mom with "cell phone challenges", pick up a prescription at a pharmacy for her and even help her change the ink on her computer. I am so grateful for this staff! The buildings and grounds are gorgeous and well maintained. I love how every holiday is celebrated and decorated to the fullest. The dining options are excellent and the residents get table service. This is resort living! I feel management is doing everything they can to keep the prices down during this balloon inflation. I know how much my bills have gone up. Kudos to them!

I started playing piano for seniors in Chico retirement communities and convalescent homes in 1981 at age 17. I'm 61 now and still doing it. I have experience in the many choices available in Chico and Sycamore Glen is exceptional and towers above them all in my opinion. Two years ago, my parents decided to move from their home in Capay to a retirement community in Chico. Because of my experience with so many of these communities, I made my strong recommendation to them and after visiting it for themselves, they agreed that it was a fine place to live. They have been entirely happy with it. The facility itself is always well-cared for, clean, and feels like you're returning home each time you enter the front doors. The staff are kind, professional, and always helpful and most of them have worked at this same community for many years. The CEO/Owner/Manager, [name removed] is exceptionally generous, engaging, and sincere in his love for the residents and families of the residents.

They work hard to provide activities(all are optional). For example - today we have an Octoberfest. Entertainment by an 18 piece band. There is no extra charge for these events & classes. They offer a 1 bedroom, a couple of 2 bedrooms & studio which I have & it is very adequate for me!

I've been here just a few weeks but have been very pleased with the staff and services. All are done in very acceptance ways.

I love Sycamore Glen Active Senior Community it is a great place for Active seniors. It's like living at an all included resort. Or you could say it's like being on a cruise without the ship. They have everything you need. The apartments are spacious (when you set it up right). I really had to downsize but I wanted to minimize my things for years so moving here was right down my Ally. The staff are great. The food is great. The housekeepers are top notch. The activities are not overwhelming. The exercise classes are designed for the senior population. Birthday night is a super great celebration. The Glen chior does a great job. The Sunday church service is non demonstration and the preacher is a very blessed. The residents are very friendly. The holidays are ?? celebrated. It's like one big family. One of the residents says it's like having 100 sisters and 35 brothers. If you need special help it is ready and available. They check on you if they don't see your safety comes first.

Staff is helpful and friendly. Apartment is small but well thought out. Rooms for various activities. There is always room for improvement anywhere you go.

Walking into this facility, everything just felt right. They are all very caring staff. They really look after their residents.

Safe and caring atmosphere! So many nice people and so many fun activities The staff is very attentive and helpful, they treat me like family and go out of their way to meet everyone’s needs! This is definitely the Best Place for a Senior to live!

For the last forty years, I've been visiting and playing piano for retirement homes and convalescent hospitals here in Chico. When my parents decided it was time to move from their home in Capay to a retirement community in Chico, I knew immediately which home I wanted for them, Sycamore Glen. When you walk into Sycamore Glen, you immediately feel welcome. Seniors are sitting comfortably chatting about their day's plans with their family members. Some are eating in the community dining hall where a wide variety of meals are offered every day with a lengthy menu. Everyday there are many activities planned for any residents or family members who would like to join. In addition, there are always groups of friends who have organized their own table games, card games. The apartments are clean, well painted, filters replaced regularly, and a housecleaner comes weekly to vacuum, clean the kitchenette and bathroom. My mother feels safe and has many friends. Sycamore Glen has become home.

I have found that the staff at Sycamore Glen Retirement are very friendly and helpful. My apartment is small but well planned. The theatre in the facility seats about 20 residents. Movies and Netflix are played several times a week. There is also a restaurant with a menu. I would recommend Sycamore Glen to others looking for independent living.

The best, hardest-working staff I’ve ever seen. Safe, beautiful, clean and friendly atmosphere. Excellent dining. So many things to do if you like. Beautiful grounds to walk and enjoy. They have a great respect for each person’s wishes. Their attention to detail is unsurpassed. My mom absolutely loved it there. Thank you, Sycamore Glen!

Even though the time had finally come my family was apprehensive about placing our 90 year old father in a retirement community. After a short time we all, (my father included) agreed he should have made the move year's earlier. Sycamore Glen is a wonderful, safe, clean and friendly environment. All of the staff are caring and compassionate. The food is excellence and the service top notch. Knowing our father had a great, safe and compassionate place to live out his life was such a relief for all of us. My wife keeps telling me that were going to live at Sycamore Glen when we get to the age of needing a little help but still wanting to keep our independence.

Sycamore Glen staff are what makes it a perfect spot for the residents. They are careing and responsive and take the responsiblities very seriously. My aunt is safe and well cared for. The knowledge that she is there, is priceless. I have no worries and know she has a comfortable and loving place to live, at this stage of her life.

Honestly, I would give Sycamore Glen Retirement a 5 on all of these items. We have been very happy with our choice of Sycamore Glen for my loved one. We appreciate the help we got from A Place for Mom. It seemed daunting at first and it was nice to have a place to turn to for guidance.
