Sundial Lakeview Retirement Residence

My mother moved into the sundial just as covid started so the staff there had to get her used to a new place and new routines. The caring and gentleness the staff showed towards her made the transition very easy for her. Over the next few months we saw her come to life with renewed interest in life, a better memory, and glowing health from the fabulous food that kept her eating even when she didn't think she was hungry. Being in a place that always had something new to do gave her a reason to get out of bed and excited to get all dressed up. She often praised how wonderful the people that worked there were and told us that she was the luckiest person on earth to have found such a great place to live. We had peace of mind for the first time in years that there was someone keeping an eye on her for us. Early onset alzeimers seemed to be slowed down considerably. The biggest problem was catching her in her room if I wanted to call her because she was never there! She was too busy!!!

One takeaway from the covid pandemic has certainly been re-embracing the feeling of being grateful. Most importantly, my family and I are very grateful to the Sundial Retirement Residence for their processes and procedures during covid. At all times they have put their residents first,, their safety, their mental and emotional health while also thinking of the residents' families and the strain on them not being allowed to go inside the Sundial to see their loved ones. The management staff approved patio visits which were so lovely during the warmer weather. Visits were always protected by covid screening, wearing of masks and dependent upon the guidelines of the Ministry. At the beginning when Ontario was advising everyone to stay inside, [name removed] from the Sundial Management Team would personally drive the residents to a necessary medical appointment. [names removed] taught our mother and many residents how to use FaceTime, iPads, Messenger and ran clinics until the residents felt comfortable with the new skills they had learned. Staff have always been so kind, taking in packages, disinfecting them and passing them along to residents. The staff are so kind and caring to the residents and their families. The front desk staff, wellness staff, the fun loving and caring activity staff, the maintenance and the cleaning staff are so approachable an helpful. The kitchen staff and servers try to accommodate many variations of likes and dislikes. Above all, [name removed] is only a phone call away and with her professionalism and knowledge is able to handle any question and always provide comfort and positivity. My mother and I recently got together in a room provided by the Sundial to have a one on one visit during the colder weather. It totally soothed our souls. It felt like an early, most desired Christmas gift and I am so grateful. Thank you Sundial Staff for the great care you give to our mother and all the residents. Our family is truly grateful.

My Mom has lived at the Sundial for over two years now and she says she wouldn’t live anywhere else! The staff is amazing! Nurses and PSWs are so friendly & extremely kind and helpful. The kitchen staff and servers call her by name and treat her like royalty! The staff at the front desk go over and above to help in any way. The maintenance staff is so friendly and helpful. It is a great burden off my shoulders to know that Mom is so well cared for at the Sundial. I am so thankful that they take care of every detail and make sure she’s ok even when she’s not doing so well. Through Covid, there hasn’t been one single case and that is because of the exemplary diligence of the staff. Thank you Sundial for making a wonderful home for my Mom!

Stunning views of the lake, food is very delicious!

Over priced, dirty rooms, flies, lazy staff, cheap food, the tours are misleading. Talk to residents and ask to see occupied rooms. It's what you don't see during a scheduled tour that will disgust you.

I toured this residence for my 81 year old grandmother and she decided to call it home. It was an easy decision as the staff was great and the water views were really remarkable.

The residence is immaculate. The staff is extremely helpful, caring, and friendly. The food is delicious. The attention to detail in the suites and amenities has been priority. The location is fantastic with stunning lake views and highway access. A must see!

Buyer beware Looks are not everything Talk to the residents there already! Lovely view! Do your research!!! The tour is amazing! It's clean and new. My family member has had months of no hot water but it's finally been fixed and the food has become so bad it's embarrassing! Dirty dishes and tablecloths.... The original staff is amazing but we hope they don't leave! Management is the real issue! We are looking for another home for our family member! Ask to talk to long time residents alone!!!! Good luck!
