The staff at St. Claire's Home for the Elderly is really very friendly. They go out of their way to try to meet the needs of their patients. Our Aunt was there for only 33 days. They required a $5000 deposit at the time of contract. We then had to pay another $5000 on arrival date of the 15th of the month. When our aunt passed the 18th of the following month, they claimed that since we went past the 15th that we had to pay another full month of $5000. When we asked about the deposit, [removed] stated that it was NON-refundable and would NOT go towards the final balance. So according to [removed] policies, we was required to pay a full $15,000 for 33 days. Our aunt passed at 3:00am in the morning and was informed that we had to have her personal belongs out no later than 7:00am because they had a new client moving in at 8:00am. It's baffling how they would have been able to set that up when she passed during the night. After discussing the finances with [removed], we informed [removed] that we only had $2000 to pay towards the $5000 she was trying to get us to pay for the upcoming month. I also asked that if she already had someone coming in at 8:00, why did we still have to pay the upcoming month. She said it was Hospice policy and out of her control. So this means they would had overlapping payment for that room. [removed] So over all, [removed] received $12,000 for only 33 days and basically kicked my deceased aunt out in four hours. We contacted Hospice only to find that they have nothing to do with St Claire's Home for the Elderly or how they run their business. Everything that [removed] said about Hospice was just scare tactics. This experience was the worst imaginable, let alone during the time of mourning the loss of a loved one. It's very obvious that [removed] is strictly out for the money, nothing else.
