Mom is doing ok. It would be pretty much the same as it is going to be most places. We love having the apartment for her with a back deck and a yard, to make it feel like a real Home, and she can have her pet there which is what Talk to to that place. On the negative, the food is terrible and they are always understaffed so there are sometimes some med pass issues.

My loved one was a resident at Springfield Assisted Living for a respite stay. I did not feel that they delivered on required items. If she had been there longer, maybe these items could have been given more attention. The food was good, but not great dietary options. My advice for someone else would be to proceed with caution.

It is a great value for an individual who doesn't need a lot of extra help. The facility needs some updating to give a better impression to potential residents. There seems to be high staff turnover but those who are dedicated to the facility are very good at what they do, and are kind and friendly. Mom has been out on several activities and had a good time, and I am happy with their transportation services. She takes advantage of the facility's transportation to appointments.
We would still choose to take our loved one to Springfield Assisted Living because they are frankly the only ones in the area that have their own back porch and small yard. It just seems a lot more like an apartment or a home then most assisted living facilities. The food is really bad, but we buy a lot of groceries to help compensate.

We found the staff to be quite nice and friendly. Unfortunately, when needed the most, we did not find the provided nursing care to be acceptable. Prescription management & evaluations of residents when behavioral changes are noticed.

The aides, are not checking to see if the call button is working. They clean the apartment, and do laundry. My loved one seems to like the food, I just wish they had more fresh fruit. We picked this community because, it was close to family, they had an apartment suite with a wooden deck, and pets is allowed.

Springfield Assisted Living is one of the only places you can go to in this area where your loved one can have a pet, with a backyard and an outdoor porch. The great thing about Springfield is that it doesn't feel like a nursing home. It's more like a senior apartment complex; it feels like your own little apartment with outside access and the ability to have an animal. That would probably be the main reason why we would stay here through thick and thin. Just like every place else, they are having staffing issues which can lead to quality issues, but you will have that anywhere right now. My mom has a 1 bedroom apartment that has everything a standard apartment would, including an outdoor porch and a backyard that they allowed us to fence in. We've planted flowers out there; it looks very nice and has been nice for her. She's become a lot more socialized here; she said she'd never come down, but now she goes down for lunch and dinner everyday. She said she'd never participate in games, but now she's playing bingo and bango. She also said she'd never go to any of the outings, but now she goes to restaurants and stores like Goodwill with them. Springfield Assisted Living has been really good for her.

Springfield Assisted living was very large and not as friendly as the place we chose. And my initial impression was that it was kind of dark and dreary.
We toured at Springfield Assisted Living and really liked it. The community felt roomy, the apartments were spacious, and I really liked that they had a kitchenette inside. I really appreciate being able to cook my own meals.

I had placed my mother here and a couple weeks after she moved in the place was sold. The staff is rude and not professional. I had hoped that when Brookdale took over being they seemed like a good corporation things improved and they didn't. They kept the same staffing and same practices. I immediately moved her into another community but that was a few years ago maybe things have gotten better there.

The family member that we had taken there to The Grand Court Springfield has a good deal of memory. She needs help remembering where to go and what to do, and that is something they charge extra for. That is one area I think they could improve. She needs to be on a schedule but cannot do so on her own, but needs reminders and assistance. She is physically more than able to do things, but any time there is anything slightly different from the normal routine she tends to forget. That is the whole reason she is in assisted living. The staff is extremely friendly and it is a very nice place.

My 86 year old Mom, with mild dementia and heart issues, spent 12 excellent days recently at the Grand Court, providing me an opportunity to focus on work and get some rest too (I am full time caregiver). The staff, especially the nursing staff, was excellent. They care about their residents ... and ... that caring showed! The food was good, as per my Mom, but not always as warm as it should have been when served. However, when Mom mentioned that to the staff, they were very quick to remedy the issue. Hence, the staff was responsive to making things right when something wasn't right. Again, that caring attitude showed during Mom's entire stay. Also, during her stay there was personnel turnover with the activities director. But the rest of the staff pulled together to try to conduct activities and keep residents as engaged as they chose to be. Bottom line, my Mom enjoyed her stay at the Grand Court and she will return to the GC for another period(s) of respite care in the Fall. Mom says she would not want to be any other place. I agree.

We toured this community when we were looking into care options for our loved one. I thought everything here looked very nice, and all of the staff we spoke with seemed friendly. However this place looked aimed at a more independent crowd than what would have been comfortable for my loved one.

Apartment available was larger than Sterling House. Hallways narrow. Bathtub cut-out rather than zero-entry shower. Cost of apartment plus ala carte needs equivalent to Sterling House.

A Place for Mom has scored Springfield Assisted Living 6.3 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
