Resided here for over five years until she recently passed away after getting pneumonia here and couldn’t recover due to her age. Our family was treated terribly during my moms transition. We placed mom in hospice on Thursday afternoon she passed away very early Monday morning. We didn’t leave her bedside the entire time and I’m glad because I had to keep records of my moms medication and go hunt the nurse down to remind her around the clock to administer my moms medication. There was no comfortable sleeping arrangements in my moms room for me and my sister to stay with my mom so we just literally roughed it. It was a terrible experience trying to help my mom stay comfortable while she transitioned and nobody seemed to care about our concerns. I definitely wouldn’t refer this place to anyone.

My 89-year-old mom fell and broke her hip. Surgery was followed by 3 days in the hospital. She was then transported to Someren Glen for rehab, recommended by our neighbor who was a Pastor there. She came into the facility totally incapacitated. We thought that she would never be able to come back home, living with relatives. She needed a standing lift to be transported anywhere. By the end of her stay she was walking, getting herself to the bathroom, etc. WOW!!! A shoutout to her CNA's (especially [name removed]), nurses, PTs, OTs, receptionists and administration. Miracle workers!!!!

Response from Someren Glen Retirement Community
April 3, 2017Thank you so much for taking the time to give us your reactions to life at Someren Glen! We are really glad for your positive experiences. We aim for that to be true for all of our residents and their families.
I enjoyed my tour and cannot understand the negative comment a previous person left. I haven't placed a loved one here yet so I didn't give a five star on items I'm not sure about, but it seems very light and bright and has incredible grounds for pleasant walks outside and inside.

Response from Someren Glen Retirement Community
April 3, 2017Vicki, thanks for taking the time to tour - and for leaving us a positive review. Should your loved one ever need to take advantage of all that Someren Glen offers, we'd be happy to serve and love them!
I did not enjoy my tour of this community. When I first walked into the community it felt very dark. The atmosphere was not nice welcoming. I didn't feel the staff was friendly and welcoming. It was not a community I felt comfortable placing my mother in.

Response from Someren Glen Retirement Community
February 9, 2017We're sorry you did not enjoy your tour! Since you visited, we have made some changes, and if you come again, we'll show you how Someren Glen is truly a warm, caring and friendly place to live. Please call Doug or Brittany at our community.
My Mom started out in the Rehab. Section of Someren Glen and she liked it so well that after her rehabilitation stay was finished, she moved into their Assisted Living program. She always mentions how much she likes the food and has begun participating in their enrichment programs. I like the fact that Mom gets regular medical check-ups. She also likes going to the on-site salon and the fact that she can just call an extension and get Drug Store like items (toothpaste, shampoo etc...) items delivered to her room for a reasonable fee. I also like that they are a continuity of care facility with Day Care, Rehab., Assisted Living and a nursing home all on the same campus. It was hard to get Mom to move out of her house, so at Someren Glen she will never have to move again even when her level of care changes.

A Place for Mom has scored Someren Glen Retirement Community 6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
