My loved one was previously a resident at Senior Retreat at Park Crossing. The care staff were wonderful, they were very nice. Unfortunately, I do not feel like they were given what they needed to provide proper care for the residents. I will say though, they did do the best that they could with what they were given. However, if things are still currently being run under the same ownership/management that we experienced, I would not recommend to others.... Read more

Any place is better than this. Glad to be out! Lousy care and our family member diminished quickly in physical and mental capacities while residing there. What a mistake! My advice is to look elsewhere.

I was OK with the facility and the staff they did the best they could but they were not given what they needed to actually run the facility. The owner is just in my opinion a Businessman, who only wants to make a buck. He doesn't care about his staff or the patients. He's a slick talking businessman, and I would never ever trust him at all.

We were instantly sold. We liked the idea of a smaller environment where needs could be met. Turned out to be the worst mistake we ever made. An absolute nightmare of an owner. Immediately started raising rates, and every few weeks, raise them again. Drastically. Caregivers quit constantly. No activities. Our loved one left alone in her room all the time. An owner who only cares about dollar signs and shockingly condescending to family members. Lacked complete empathy.

Important to know, the owner will tell you whatever you want to hear to get you in the door, and once you’re in, hike the rent drastically, have no activities, high caregiver turnover (they quit constantly), and is rude, disrespectful, and uncaring. Not to be trusted.

Senior Retreat is a wonderful place for my dear wife! I love the concept of a family home. Having a maximum of 6 residents insures a favorable ration of staff to residents. The management is very accommodating to special needs and preferences and the staff is surperb. They go out of their way to provide loving care and are so considerate to the family members of the residents. I can’t be happier with Senior Retreat and recommend it highly!

Senior Retreat at Park Crossing has been very good so far. It is the 2nd home of its kind owned by a Charlotte home health care agency. It is in a nice neighborhood, has six bedrooms, a games room, large living area, large screened porch dining room and eat-in kitchen. The staff are licensed caregivers, very nice, seem competent and prepare nutritious meals in addition to administering meds to the residents, caring for their health, and grooming needs. It is always clean and tidy. There are some scheduled daily activities, and an activities director who makes an effort to incorporate the residents’ interests into the planned activities. They have puzzles, TV, crafts, monthly family meetings. Also, they also have a relationship with UNCC. Students of the gerontology program visit once a week to work with the residents. The place is comfortable, intimate, and family oriented. We are satisfied so far and would recommend it to others.

We had chosen this community for respite care for mom and I'm so glad we did. She had a wonderful time there. The home had just opened up so there was only 1 other resident there so there wasn't much socializing going on. But mom loved the caregivers and talking to them they were nice and friendly. It is a lovely place nice and clean. The food was wonderful. She actually said that since it went so well if she had to move into assisted living she would want to move there

A Place for Mom has scored Senior Retreat at Park Crossing 5.8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
