Samuel F. Vilas Home

I will say we could not be happier with the care my mom is receiving. She feels at home in fact she call her room her home. She is happy and feels very safe. The activities she has attended have been good for her and my sisters and I love the fact the she goes to the dining room for her meals which keep her moving during the day. She has people she has gotten to know that she talks with each day.

The Vilas Home experience has been nothing short of incredible. We made a very quick transition for our Mom and the staff at Vilas made it seamless. They helped us at every turn to insure it happened in time and with minimal impact on our Mom. This was a big step for us and especially Mom. Now that she's been there for a while, we know it was the right place. She is busy every day with activities and social connections. The staff is great, helpful, very involved, supportive and listen to and address any concerns. We are definitely happy with the outcome.

My dad has been here at Vilas for over 1 year now. I couldn't possibly commend each and every person who takes care of dad, so here is my sincere thank you for the care you give my father. I'm able to sleep at night knowing he is being cared for and supervised by [name removed] and the entire staff. I have gotten to know many people at Vilas and consider them family ,a very warm and compassionate family..again my thanks!

During our first visit to the Samuel F. Vilas Home we were impressed by the courteous, accommodating staff, the simple elegance of the building, and the warm, welcoming ambiance of the various common rooms. We arrived close to lunchtime, and my mom was invited to join other residents for a delicious noontime meal. We thought it was going to be very difficult to leave her there and return to our own homes, but it wasn't. She may not have been "happy", but her room was lovely, the food delicious, and the other residents so friendly that she was content. She realized that she wasn't able to stay in her own home any longer, and she could sense how grateful and pleased we were to have found such a wonderful place for her. She adapted readily to her new home. Mom will be 99 in a few months. She has dementia and needs considerable assistance for daily living, but staff make sure that she is safe, comfortable and feels loved. This is such a gift to us and we are incredibly grateful .

The only thing is they don't do higher levels of care, based on their licensing. So the patient definitely needs to be independent. They have stairs, so they can't take someone who is unable to navigate stairs. They do have a higher level of care they can transfer you to, but that place I felt questionable about. But the location was really good at Samuel F. Vila Home. The owner was really nice and really accommodating. And the staff were very dedicated to their patients from what I could see.
