My family member was admitted to Royal for rehab after hurting his back. The first 5 days he was there, he had a broken TV (that no one was willing to address), he was never helped with bathing, he was only out of bed for 10 min a day, no one would come when he used the call light for a nurse. I went in one day to visit and he was covered in vomit and said he had been trying to get the nurse to come but no one would. I got the nurse and she handed him a basin to throw up in. I said that he seems confused and asked why he was throwing up and didn’t seem like himself. She didn’t know. I asked when the last time he had a bowel movement was because I wanted to make sure there wasn’t an obstruction. She couldn’t find the documentation of this. I demanded he be sent to the hospital. There was push back, they didn’t want to send him and I insisted. When he got to the hospital he was rushed to the ICU w/ sepsis and acute renal failure and would have died if he didn’t get there when he did.

Awful food, not a good place unless you can't walk. My sister has become morbidly obese while living there. She has been deconditioned. Staff do not encourage her to do anything. They overmedicate because that make money. Some staff are good.

A Place for Mom has scored Royal Rehabilitation and Nursing Center 1.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
