Activities are abundant. The staff is friendly and helpful. I'm not sure that the nursing side of things are up to par though. My mom became ill and I felt as though they were really just blaming her age for her issues and did not notice the drastic changes in her. The doctor was not readily available. I was not comfortable or impressed with the medical skills. There was no sense of urgency. In fact, the head nurse was on vacation when my mother was nearing the end of her life and the was little backup for the head nurse. Some of the staff seemed frustrated and not too friendly and there were some small language barriers. Many of the staff were caring. When things got dire with my mom, the staff was not too responsive. Housekeeping was good. Everything was clean and they came each day. There was not a lot of communication with the family. They did let family visit at all hours, which was great. The move in process was smooth. The meals were relatively good. Nice setting. My mother was in a one bedroom apartment, which was spacious and very nice and large. I would ask that the staff be a little more tender with the elderly, more patient. If the resident is not feeling well, that should be embraced and they should not be charged for delivery of food to their room. They encouraged my mother to use their staff doctor. However, he was not there often enough and she never had a visit from him. They should have him or her do an examination pretty quickly post move in to get a baseline. The doctor was not readily available when she needed him and the head nurse was on vacation. Things there with the staff were okay when her health was good. As soon as she declined I felt like she was ignored unless I kept calling for them to please check her condition. They responded quickly upon calling. But the fact that I had to call was not great. I would recommend this facility, as it is beautiful and lots of activities, if your loved one is in relatively great health.

The first thing that stood out to us about this facility is the price. When we first met [name removed], she told us many other things that were wonderful! The activities department is great. The aids at the community are all I mean all, wonderful! They are always polite, caring, attentive, and concerned about their residents. My mother-in-law said that the food is spectacular! They take care of mom's laundry, change sheets, etc. They help mom showering and making sure that she's safe! I have nothing but good things to say about this community. I am truly blessed that our family can now have complete peace as we know, mom is an excellent hands! She LOVES her apartment and the staff and community!!

We had a great tour with Promenade at Tuxedo Place. The staff were all very caring and did a great job showing us everything we needed to see. It was unfortunately out of our price range. If mom had more resources available to her financially, then she probably would have gone here. It really was a great place.
They had 2 bouts of bed bugs during our stay here. They had mice after a while as well. They were several residents I saw who who were under - nourished. There was one person who was terrific with activities, but he was only there 2 times a week. They had people working in the kitchen who were stealing food and taking it home. Some of the aids were turning off the intercom so they would not get beeps during the night from the residents who needed help. They only had one aid during the night for 50 residents. I would absolutely not recommend this facility to other families.
Read MoreMy loved one has been very happy here. The staff are very attentive and she has been thrilled with them. She does not participate in the activities but there are a lot offered. It is a smaller community and she really enjoys that because she is able to really get to know the other residents and is not as overwhelming as some of the bigger ones.

I was very impressed with the staff here. They were kind and loving and seemed very interested and engaged with their residents. They seemed to offer more care here than my loved one really needed. It was also geared more towards the catholic religion.
Promenade looked like a wonderful place. The staff were all great and they had a lot of amenities offered. My mom would not have used all of these amenities, so we felt that we would have been paying for services that were not going to be used. They did have a very nice fancy dining room that residents can rent out to dine with their families. The rooms were average size but did have their own private bathrooms in the room.

Promenade had a homey feel, nice, informative tour with Sadie. Seems like a good value here as its a little less $$ than most but staff seems dedicated to good care. Just seemed to need a little updating.

Run the other way! The place smells and it's really old and outdated. They have no security set up after 6pm - anyone can wander in or out! There are no security cameras, and residents can just wander the hall. What a bunch of [language removed] artists who blow smoke up your bum and let you think everyone there is so caring, when they are NOT. It's a business and a place that just wants to make money. You have to chase after them to make sure they take care of your relative as they will do the least amount of work they can get away with! The hallways wreak of urine. The food is [language removed] (they claim it's "gourmet"). The staff spends a lot of time sitting around and talking and not a lot of doing. My relative is a bit hard of hearing and couldn't understand what they were telling her to do, and when she asked them to repeat themselves, they were already down the hall onto the next one. [Language removed]? You get to spend about 2 minutes with the in-house doctors. Find another place.

From my first contact with [name removed] to our scheduled tour with [name removed] I cannot say enough good things about The Promenade at Tuxedo Place! While both were instrumental in providing me with support & information throughout the application & placement process what struck me most was the warmth, openness, compassion & sense of community [names removed] imparted. As if welcoming a new family member to their homes all the staff helped my father transition from a stressful life altering move to a caring, friendly & nurturing environment he now calls "home". My father has only been there one month but has thrived & enjoys each day with endless activities & the encouragement & support of all the staff. The facility itself reminds one of a cross between a B&B and a warm inviting inn that is well maintained with nicely appointed rooms & common areas and a "cozy" feel. Making this decision for and with a parent can be exhausting, confusing, emotional and time consuming. Thank you [names removed] for being my lifeline throughout it all and for making dad feel "part of the family"! I highly recommend The Promenade at Tuxedo Place!

Very nice facility in Tuxedo NY - older buildings as it was a former hospital in the 1940's (+/-). Updates have been made. We liked the fact that there are only 69 residents, not so large as to be overwhelming or institutional looking. Rooms are very clean and have a good amount of space. Fees are all inclusive (weekly housekeeping, 3 meals per day plus snacks, 24 hour staff, weekly laundry, life enrichment program, room) - add-ons are medication management and personal care - there are 4 pricing tiers ranging from $3330/mo for private suite - $4020/mo for deluxe suite, $600-$1800/mo for personal care, $600/mo for medication management. Staff are friendly and helpful. Residents are kept busy with exercise, activities, movies, BBQs, Wine & Cheese nites, 2 trips per week, one for shopping and other for recreation. All in all a really nice place, nestled on a hill - 2 decks for lounging & BBQ in the summer months is nice, lots of trees.

A Place for Mom has scored Promenade at Tuxedo Place 8.7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
