Potomac Grace

I entrusted my mothers care to Potomac Grace as soon as I met the director. Her compassion for her residents and genuine concern for their well being is truly evident. She passes those traits along to her staff as well. My mother is now over 100, and she has lived at Potomac Grace for more than five years. She is well taken care of and I could not ask for a better place to provide for her needs and wishes..

Potomac Grace assisted living offers a clean, warm, secure environment. I view it as a home away from home, offering healthy home cooked meals, nicely decorated, comfortable living space and activities to entertain. The involvement of staff in the entertaining activities fosters a cheery, joyful and heartwarming atmosphere that dispels feelings of loneliness. Kudos to the Manager and staff who not only pay keen attention to the medical needs but ensure a happy, friendly and respectable environment is fostered. I will recommend this home to others.

Potomac Grace facility and staff are always organized and professional; they are a delight to work with. Whenever I would visit, I was always greeted by friendly staff, the residents were well-groomed and the place was well equipped with the latest tools to ensure that my mom was well taken care of. I would highly recommend Potomac Grace to anyone who needed an assisted living facility for their parent’s personal care because it is a home away from home.

My initial impression was positive due to the large rooms, cleanliness and friendly staff. However, I was concerned if the staff was experienced to care for a person with such a difficult disease as ALS. Unfortunately, that concern became a reality. The manager never initially assessed my mother yet confirmed she was able to take care of her. Within 10 days at the facility, the manager stated that they were not able to take care of my mother. The irony though, they gave us until the next billing payment deadline to leave the facility which was about six weeks out. In addition, the deposit was never returned to us. While at the facility, my mother’s physical therapy appointments were not organized or scheduled appropriately; the activities were rare; any questions I had were not responded to; the medicines were not administered properly; the staff had issues with our visitors; and the manager treated us rather rudely. My goal was to take her to court to request our deposit back, but if anyone has taken cared of an ALS patient, the energy is focused entirely on them. If your loved one is quiet, does not have many visitors, family members do not live close by, and they have an illness that is easy to manage, then this is the perfect patient for Potomac Grace and their staff. This was quite an unfortunate experience given this dreadful disease. Everything in life can be handled in such different ways and when you see someone you love battling a terminal disease such as this one, the thought of caregivers turning their backs after so many false promises was truly disheartening, especially at the end of a person’s life and for the family members as well.

We toured the Potomac Grace. It was a very nice and clean community. The staff was friendly and helpful. We needed someone who worked at the community that spoke Mandarin. It is important that they could communicate with our loved one.

This community is really nice and very clean. The staff is great and at times make sure that she has her special diet needs. We like that she is offered activities and she is enjoying them very much. I am glad that I place my mom here and I have recommended this community for the great care and value that is given here.
