Pioneer Elder Care (Vine Street) boasts a great resident / caregiver ratio. What they don't tell you is that the PSWs and staff do EVERYTHING - laundry, meal prep, feeding residents, cleaning rooms, doing dishes, etc. This leaves little time for resident care. The care is adequate if your loved one is immobile and you are willing to have them sit in their wheelchair in front of the television all day. If your loved one is mobile and has dementia, they don't want to deal with them wandering, not to mention that there are no activities to stimulate the residents during the day. They required us to hire extra care on top of the regular fees because they couldn't care for our loved one who was always walking and moving. Their solution was to secure him into a chair unless there was a family member, friend or a hired helper there with him. This facility is definitely not capable of caring for mobile residents. If I could give it zero stars, I would.

After 3 assessments done by their nurse, supervisor and owner I was told Dad was a perfect candidate.Within 10 days they told me to come pick him up....that day..no discharge plan..no medication on his release..just a complaint that he was violent...THEY MISSED A BLADDER INFECTION...which causes aggression and delerium.I picked Dad up and he was over 103 degrees...terrible care..terrible communication..lack of any compassion..now that I have Dad settled..I will begin my quest so that no one else has to go through the nightmare Pioneer put us through.
