Park Merced was a great help to our family in helping us with mom. Mom's room had an awful smell around the bathroom and we could never find the source. Staff is super awesome and did everything they can for us or our mom. Staff was great getting mom her medication and cleaning mom. Mom was unable to go to the dining hall for meals but staff did an excellent job in bringing it to her room. She complained about the food being bland but I think it was just mom. Mom wasn't there long enough to do any activities but it seemed like the residents enjoyed themselves. Even though we had to pay for extra care for mom it seemed reasonable out of all the other places.

One word: AMAZING! When I first toured Park Merced I was very impressed by it all. Since moving my mom in I've been blown away! The care, attention to detail, concern, and friendliness for everyone, resident and visitor alike, has been marvelous. She feels at home and has acclimated very quickly to having her room and bedding cleaned weekly and three wonderful meals a day! :) The attentiveness of the staff has been a blessing, especially as mom has dementia and chronic pain so she's asking for help quite often. They always come with a smile and warmth. The food is delicious...I've enjoyed a meal and it's not only good (great clam chowder!) but served in such a manner that each resident is seen and heard. From announcing the course, asking residents of any preferences and serving it as if they're dining in a very nice restaurant, all details are attended. From director and aides to housekeeping and maintenance, all know mom by name and care for her wonderfully. Highly recommend!

Overall experience was great. When I first walked into Park Merced I was impressed with how clean it was and how homey it was. Everyone was helpful and friendly. Park Merced is always clean and orderly. My dad's apartment gets cleaned once a week and his housekeeper does a great job. She ways finds time to chat with my dad which I'm so appreciative of. Everyone at Park Merced is friendly...from the Director to the medical staff to the maintenance guy to the servers in the dining room. They all know my dad and greet him by name whenever they see him. Quality of care is top notch. My dad is in the best place he can be and I'm so thankful that I don't have to worry about him. Meals are the best! The menu varies every week and the food is good! My dad raved about the Christmas buffet they had this year. The dining room is always clean and the residents really seem to look forward to every meal. Park Merced offers lots of fun activities though my dad doesn't really participate in them. He's more of a homebody and prefers to just hang out in his apartment. I think Park Merced's fees are very reasonable. No complaints at all even with them raising the cost of the residents' rooms. My dad is very comfortable living at Park Merced.

Park Merced is a great place for my mom the only negative I can find is that the food could be a little bit better according to my mom and some of their fixtures need to be updated and carpeting for example the carpeting in a room Could be replaced or cleaned on a regular basis and another example is the restroom fixture the Fossette should be replaced and toilet their prices just went up slightly which is not surprising because of all the costs of inflation and what have you other than that it's a good place.
The facility is very large and if your loved one needs to be escorted to the dining room that is an extra $500. There are a lot of sandwiches and soup served and I do not think that is appropriate for dinners - they are not balanced meals. They just recently got over a covid outbreak in the facility. Overall there are improvements that need to be made but we are hopeful for the future.

Park Merced was a good place. I got to know the staff really well in a short time. They were very kind and very accommodating to whatever we needed. My person said the food was pretty good, and that was coming from a picky eater. They were always doing activities. The cost was reasonable compared to other places. But they were private pay only.

My husband does well most days, and some days he has his bad days but they have been super with him. The food is very good, I have eaten there. The caregivers are as prompt and helpful as possible. I don't know what the ratio is in most places but I do know they have 1 caregiver 9 patients here. The supervisor over the caregivers, [Removed], has been very helpful woking with me and trying to come up with alternatives. I could not say enough good things about this place.

The guy who greeted us was very nice. The community seemed rather outdated. The accommodations didn't seem as nice as other communities in the area. Also, the room they showed us needed new carpet and a fresh coat of paint. That was not something that was mentioned that would be done. The residents appeared older and a lot of them were in wheelchairs versus being in walkers like we saw at other communities.

I visited there about 2 years ago, and they were nice but the staff was a little cold. I looked around and at the activities but it didn't feel like a place I would want to stay or work at.

I have been very impressed with Park Merced. My father in law is staying there and doing very well. The place is extremely clean and the staff are all very happy. There was one incident where they gave him the wrong medication and he ended up having to go to the hospital. We all make mistakes though, and they handled it really well. Other than that once instance everything about them has been very good.

They made my mother feel really welcome when they moved in and they came out and personally introduced themselves to her to make sure she knew them all personally. They are really good at making sure she gets all her medications on time, and makes it to the meals on time. Any time she pushes the buzzer needing anything they are very quick to respond. It has been a really good overall experience and I would highly recommend them.

Unfortunately, my father, who has dementia, was only there for 12 days before he got so sick he had to go to the hospital and then to a nursing facility. While there, the staff was very kind, the place is well kept (clean and bright), and the food is freshly made and very nutritious. The only thing that I saw that could be improved is that there needs to be more common sense and better observation and problem-solving skills among some of the caregivers. The reason I say this is due to my father having a leaky catheter and the caregiver didn't notice. It soaked into the carpet and she refused to clean the carpet, even though the urine had mixed with chemicals in the carpet causing a very caustic odor. I had to run out to get carpet cleaning supplies and clean and deodorize the carpet, with only limited success. Housekeeping was supposed to do a deeper cleaning when they came in on Monday, but the caregiver hadn't written up a work order so there was still a bad smell until Wednesday when I visited and was so upset with the situation that I went to the front office to get the work order written. It was that evening my father had to go to the hospital, never to return. This place came highly recommended to me and I had toured it twice and spoken with residents and staff before bringing my father there. I was content feeling my dad would be in good hands, but this one experience really concerned me.

Met with director on Friday. He knew and greeted every client by name. Room was large, with its own bathroom, kitchenette, etc. Clients encouraged to put up pictures, etc. Room for large bed and a couch too. Clean. Rooms on interior courtyard are more, but could have plants in pots. Independence when wanted. Lots of activities. distance to dining room.

A Place for Mom has scored Park Merced 9.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
