A Place for Mom has scored Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care with 2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score based on 1 review in the last 2 years. Over all time, Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care has 4 reviews with an average "overall experience" of 4 out of 5.
The pictures shown are not the Oaks in Texarkana TX. 1.) During admit we were unable to visit with mother for multiple weeks so that she could "acclimate." 2.) After, Visits for the collective family was 2 per week for 30 minutes. 3.) Family was accused by staff and management of bringing in medicated outside food and drinks affecting mom's behavior. 4.) When [name removed] in management was addressed about the accusations and asked to investigate these claims by following up with a drug screen, etc She ignored communications and did not follow up. 5.) we never received updates from the facility, only from our hospice nurse who gave good reports. 6.) We indirectly found out that [name removed] no longer wanted our mother as a resident and that she was going to have to move with no formal notice. 7.) after a recent UTI was cleared, mother was over sedated for fear of "potential agitation." No RN on site to evaluate or discuss concerns. We called hospice to eval and they made appropriate adjustments.

Everything has been great. The only problem that has been is the residents in memory are further along in their condition than my loved one. This makes it difficult for my loved one to communicate with the residents to get to know them. The food is alright for my loved one. They have assisted living and this is where the food is cooked. Once it is finished cooking they deliver it to the memory care unit. The residents have two choices of options for each meal. The upside of the community it is a smaller unit for more care from the staff.

A Place for Mom has scored Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care 2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
