Response from Oak Park Place Green Bay
May 4, 2023Hi Diane! Thank you for sharing. We are glad your dad is doing well!
They have a variety of food. They try to encourage, my loved one to get active with the activities, in which they had plenty of things to do. We picked this community because, my loved one liked the location. They have knowledge of making people feel comfortable, which is outstanding. I would tell other families to, take a look at this facility because it's definitely worth it.

I toured this community and it was good overall. The staff was friendly, nice facility, good communication. As far as memory care, the residents here seemed to be on a higher cognitive level than my loved one is. So not the best fit for us, but definitely could be for others.
Putting a loved one in a home of any type is very difficult. From my first call to [Name removed]I knew it was the right place as she cared about the residents. [Name removed] was excellent, compassionate about her job and caring. She walked us thru everything and when I had questions could always count on an immediate response. [Name removed], [Name removed], [Name removed] and [Name removed] were other staff we encountered and all were excellent to work with and help get thru this difficult time. Thanks to Oak Park place we feel mom is in excellent hands.

One of the improvements needed by this facility is the personal attention to the residents in the morning. Such as checking if they have clean clothes on, depends, shoes, if they have their walkers etc. When I call I do not get calls back, so I think improvement on communication is also something that is needed.

It's a newer facility with friendly staff. Like any other place right now, they're struggling to get staff. So yo might consider bringing in help with care. But I don't fault them on that with the employment situation the way it is right now. They have a lot of activities and a pretty steady schedule.. At least once a month they have an outing, for instance they've recently gone to the botanical gardens. They have Bingo every week, Catholic services weekly, crafting, different speakers coming in. We were very appreciative when they allowed my father to bring his trainset and set it up in a common area so he could run his trains.

This community was nice but it was too far away for me to access my loved one.
The community is very accommodating and the staff attentive to the residence. the room sizes are good and they offer different room sizes also. I would recommend this community to others.

During the time our loved one was they were very good, and the staff members were excellent. Towards the end we had Unity come in and they very informative, which was very nice. From what we could see the activities seemed good, and the management there was very good. When our loved one passed they made sandwiches and desserts for our family.

The community and the layout was very nice, and it was very welcoming for the guest. The administration at the facility was very good, we were very impressed with how the organized things to get the families and the Green Bay community involved. The folks who worked directly with our loved one were wonderful, we would highly recommend this community to others. They had happy hours where the families were encouraged to come. During the holidays like Christmas, they invited families and the entire Green Bay area for meals, cookies and hot chocolate. They even had a reindeer petting station.

My mom was in the memory care unit. You need to visit and check out the other residents in the unit, The room sizes are a little small but the layout of the community is good. The food is good. They have limited secured outdoor space.

Unfortunately because of COVID 19, I could not tour the facility in person. I enjoyed the "Skype" tour with [name removed]. I was able to ask questions before, during, and after the tour. There were times when the feed broke up, but she was able to repeat what she told me during that time. What was nice is that I could ask questions right away when they came up while I was touring the facility. She was very friendly and informative. It lasted about 40 minutes and was good.

Oak Park was not covered by my parents insurance and rooms were a little small when my dad stayed there last. The staff was nice. Occasionally my Dad stated the meals were cold as they were brought from another area of the facility.
