I wasn't very happy about the fact that most of the patients there were bedridden. Some of them seemed close to dying. So there was not much activity going on. My loved one was not bedridden, so she was kind of lonely and felt a little bit weird to be in that situation. But I think they did okay with care of my loved one. The house was kind of new and maybe needed more organization. The person in charge was not very experienced, although she left right before we did. But the house environment was very nice. The living room and dining room were nice, and I liked the set-up of the resident's rooms. I don't think they were sweeping the floors in my loved one's room often though. But they had nice outside areas as well, and all of the rooms have access to the side or back yard, which was nice. I think it's a nice place to take your loved one, especially if they are bedridden or on hospice. Also keep in mind that they don't provide any diabetic-related medical services.... Read more

If you need hospice for a loved one, be sure to do your own homework... are they a for profit or non profit? Are they brick and mortar in SD County? How long have they been around? Are their staff employees or independent contractors? Do the social media links on their websites even work? Get referrals from your family physician. The recommendations by this facility included two hospices that met zero of the above criteria. Not sure why, but felt strong-armed into working with certain hospices. One threatened to take a sickly, elderly person's bed away if we did not work with them! And strangely, this facility tried to get them hired AGAIN. If someone did something so awful, why would you continue to refer them? There are hundreds of hospices in San Diego County. Stand firm and don't let anyone bully you into working with anyone you don't want to.

Everything was great, they took care of my loved one. The issue was that COVID went through the community, and the manager left. The staff contracted COVID, and they left. This entire situation wasn't handled right. Everyone that was there with my loved one passed away in the community, including my loved one. I've told several people not to go there. Some personal belongings were taken from my loved one.

A Place for Mom has scored New World RCFE 2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
