My mother has had quite a few visitors, and they've all told me it's a nice place, even some of the more skeptical family members. I'm there several days a week, and I like it there. It's a nice, homey place. It's exceptionally clean, and Mom's bedroom is well lit and cheerful. We've gotten to know the people there personally and some of their relatives. I was scared to take my mom someplace where the caretakers ignored the residents and didn't care for them properly. But that has not been the case here. All the caretakers I've talked to really like working there. It's not just a job to them. They care. I'm very comfortable with the owners, and they contact me on a regular basis. When I see the food served, it looks like they're getting the residents a good meal. I like that they serve fruit and give a good amount of fluids. The people there aren't really mobile, so there's not a lot of activities, but they do what they can. And they're good about reading whether Mom is having a good or a bad day and interacting with her accordingly. They're also good about giving me daily updates. The owner recently requested that Grace Medical stop by for a hospice evaluation to talk about coming in for regular therapy. I was under the misconception that hospice meant close to death, so I was appreciative that the owner took that initiative to explore options for extra care for my mom that I didn't know were available. And Grace Medical said Mom looked good, that her weight was good, and they saw no evidence of any issues other than normally progressing dementia. It has been such a relief for our family to have the help and support from Nathan's Place in caring for our mom.... Read more
