The new management has been hard during Dad's hospital stay. Things are looking better. I would not recommend Mt. Bachelor for memory care. OI do think that it is ok for a senior living, but extra care is hit and miss. Hopefully the new management can hire more English speaking help.

I was disappointed as to how Mt Bachelor operated. One thing, the staff were very caring and tried their best. Hard to do when you're short staffed. They had 1 RN for over 100 tenants. In fact, in the length of 7 months while my parents lived there, Mt. Bachelor went through 2 nurses. Plus an Executive Director. I hadn't realized that Mom was right that the meals were just okay. Mom had a stroke on August 6th, and passed away on August 16th. I was there every single day for 7-8 hours, and the meals brought in for my Dad were appalling. I couldn't blame him for not eating much of it. I'm not someone who is naïve to the business. I was a CNA back in the day for 6 years. I was the Program Director for an Assisted Living for 4 years. I was also the Kitchen Director for the meals on wheels program out of Salem, Oregon. Mom passed on [date removed], and I moved Dad into an Adult Foster Care Home on [date removed]. I honestly couldn't leave my Dad at Mt Bachelor and watch him wither away. Where he is living now is fabulous, plus home cooked food. Let me tell you, Dad is eating most of his meals now. In all good faith, I could never recommend Mt Bachelor for anyone's loved one.

Response from Mt. Bachelor Assisted Living and Memory Care
October 12, 2023Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this review for Mt. Bachelor Assisted Living and Memory Care. Our staff strives to foster a positive community experience for all our residents, and your feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I moved my father into this facility August 2021. The first red flag was we went to move in and they gave the room away that we had agreed on that was next to the elevator. We were given the most far away room in the building. I asked that we get moved when another room became available, but time after time other people moved in and I was told it was best to keep my father where he is. The caregivers were wonderful, many of them there since the facility opened. The last 3 months have not been good. They lost chefs, lost key management and many long time caregivers have left. The dining room is horrible. The new manager decided it was best to feed the people in the dining room first, and do the room trays last. This has resulted in lunch being delivered to the room after 1:30. Yesterday, his lunch was totally forgotten. If it weren't for me and my outside caregiver always checking up, I have no confidence in the current staff. I do not recommend this facility.

March 15, 2023Hi there, Thanks for taking the time to leave this review for Mt. Bachelor Assisted Living and Memory Care! It's greatly appreciated.
There is a current problem with not enough staffing in dining room. They need to do better on orientation of residents on how things work. It's been a very good experience.

When we go to visit our loved one we always see plenty of activities going on which is great. We do understand staffing is an issue so the meals and dining is suffering because of it - the meats are a little tough but they have recently changed chefs which it is getting better. Also sometimes the response time is a little slower but we are hoping once they staffing issue gets better everything else with follow suit,

Mt. Bachelor is awesome. They've been very helpful, very caring, and very responsive whenever we have a need. They have wonderful opportunities for activities if the residents choose to take advantage of them. The facility is beautiful. It's a great place, it's just very expensive.

My loved one loved the community. The staff were able to get my loved one into activities and they were great to work with. The family being an advocate for our loved one, really helped with making sure our loved one was taken care of. The staff communication was good, it was hard to figure out who to reach out to, for specific needs such as laundry. The communication with the staff was more verbal than written. Some of the care the community provides include: medication management, housekeeping, dressing, and hygiene care for the residents. My loved one or the family would have to mention a concern and the staff would not be immediately taken care of. It was longer than my loved one or family wanted to get the things our loved one needed done, in some cases.

They are doing the best they can with the staffing they have here. The staffing is an issue just like anywhere else due to the pandemic. They are top notch in caring for my loved one. Shuffleboard, book clubs, bible studies, structed discussions. entertainment and happy hour, kombucha brewing, and more are some of the activities they have for the residents to choose from. Prior to the pandemic they had field trips away for the community and we are looking forward to this for our loved one.

The main issue is that they are short staffed which I know is happening everywhere. My loved one is bedbound and needs quite a bit of help and it takes a while for someone to come and help out. I would not recommend at the moment due to our experience so far.

with that said. Management is nonexistent. In the 6+ months I have never gotten a call back or any issues address without calling multiple times with still no resolve. They always say "He's gone on vacation or go." Even when I speak with you he promised to callback and never has. Very frustrated. Thinking of moving my parent out!

This community is located on a noisy road bout the rooms are nice. this is a newer community and it is only 5 years old. The management is slow to respond to emails and often hard to get a hole of also. But overall the staff are nice

The community is very good and they care about the residents. I'm really happy with the experience. There are tons of activities such as arrangement of flowers, concerts and shows, movies, and more for the residents to participate in. There is a weekly calendar of activities. There is a regular meeting with the chef, administrators and additional executive staff with the residents. The food is quite food.

I would tell people to be careful. Please watch over your loved one. Make sure the community is doing all they said they would for the care of your loved one. I feel the staff didn't check on my loved one as often as they should have. Anytime I visited my loved one, he appeared not cared for.

My mom and dad are here and love it. Mom is getting really good help in the memory care unit. Dad is loving all the daily activities last week they had a wreath contest. I love the marketing director [Removed] she is amazing. They have a cocktail hour everyday at 5. It is beautiful and clean. All the staff all the way from the admins down to the kitchen staff they are all friendly and helpful. I would recommend this community.
