First, the staff never seem to be mean to staff or inconsiderate or condescending. They seem to treat them with respect. We have had challenges with over charging mom, not being easy to talk with anyone related to billing - lots of passing the buck. Getting her laundry done is very difficult. Like it doesn't get done. Initially we think mom was telling them her daughter would do so so maybe the misunderstood but we were only taking it b/c they did not for over 2 weeks. Mom says the food was better at the start but lately not. Ex. Bland soup with very mushy, overcooked noodles. I think some of it is mom but also not sure how hard they try to get those living there to get to know each other & be involved in things. Again, some of that is my mom b/c she doesn't like group things & thinks she is leaving soon so... there is that.... Read more

We moved my mom out of Mount View Lack of security, front door is always open. Anyone can walk in day or night, only one person on staff at night often. That employee could be upstairs helping a resident and anyone could walk in there and no one would know..Mount View went through three Director's while my mother was there. We meet with several of them with some of our concerns. Mount View was consistently short of help The help they did have was very good but they kept getting hours cut. One of the employees moved their mother out due to numerous violations. A Mountain View employee also falsified records, they were supposed to be doing bed checks. We set something up on the back of my mom's door so we would know if someone came in at night after three weeks of no one coming in at night to check. We went to the Director. The food was always an issue. They rarely had fresh fruit and vegetables until we kept complaining. Their idea of a meal was biscuits and gravy. Sometimes they have that three times in a week with no other options. I would not recommend Mount View to anyone.

I know she is safe & fed. No one ever seems to yell. Food is bland according to mom. There is serious lack of communication if we need someone/they don't follow through on things asked such as several days notice of dr. Appt and request to be sure mom showers before. She has always supposed to have a shower twice weekly bit even 1x/week has been hard to get. Laundry is often not done. She does not know to tell someone if she has an accident in bed & no one checks. The activities person seems to try. She is consistent. She asked for candy for Halloween & I emailed back an offer, requesting info if there was a certain kind or bagging preferred and 1 1/2 weeks later have heard nothing.

This experience has been good for my loved one family. I do have a concern about the amount of staff they have, since they seem short. However, all the communities are experiencing this change. There are three meals a day served to the residents. It would be nice to see more fresh fruit available for the residents. There are activities available for the residents to engage with if they choose to.

New management since April 2016 has really turned the place around. The place is clean, in good repair, smells nice, and the staff are awesome. Everyone is so caring or loving. There is a bad apple in the staff occasionally, but management seem to weed them out after giving everyone a chance and they keep the best ones. I know there are at least 7 or 8 people there that have been there for over 6 or 7 years or more. That's unheard of in the health industry. This is nothing like a nursing home. Our dad can be as independent or social as he wants to be. They are very accommodating. A smile and kind words go a LONG way. The cost is the best around... AND I'VE LOOKED!!! They are very willing to work with you and your budget. VERY willing. Out of respect for their kindness I won't go into that anymore, but just be open and honest. The ED is very kind and understanding, and I truly feel like he wants to really help whether you move in or not. Very NOT pushy. It's nice to trust someone when you are making a big decision like this.

I am so happy with the care my dad is getting at Mountain Terrace! The staff truly care for him and are always encouraging him to get involved in daily activities. He's enjoying his final years relaxing with new friends without the worry of his home, the snow and cooking. LOVE IT!

We are doing fine right now. The bathroom is not always the cleanest, in the room. I would like to see them clean it at least once a day. The staff is super friendly, and the food is good, and the activities are good. I wish they would check the residents a little more often for accidents, especially for the memory care residents. Other than that it's great, she is happy there, we really like it.

We're very happy with how things have gone at Harmony at Terrace Commons! It's a very nice looking community, and the staff have all been very friendly and caring. My loved one seems so happy here, and she gets happier every day! I really appreciate how well they get to know their residents, they always seem so in touch with her mood. They know days when she is feeling social, and check in and chat with her often, but they also know days when she needs her space. It's a great place, and definitely worth a look if your loved one needs care!

This is my father-in-law's 2nd experience at an assisted living center. The other residents here are more outgoing so he has a lot of daily conversation. He really enjoys the happy hour on Friday. The facility itself is smaller which makes it feel more homey. While he complains about the food (he is pretty fussy), he is getting plenty to eat. He has made new friends even though most are women. And the residents watch out for each other. The staff is friendly and even though he is relatively healthy again, they keep an eye on his needs. They dispense his meds appropriately. The cost is the same as his prior place but his experience here is much better. We made the right decision about moving him to Harmony.

A Place for Mom has scored Mountain Terrace Senior Living RCAC 6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
