My mom has really enjoyed her time. In my experience the facility/staff of Morada Fort Smith are the glue that keeps everything together adding to such an excellent experience for residents and their families. All the amenities are excellent and the apartment sizes so much larger than my first apartment I had in college many years ago.

Price and cleanliness are good, food is good, activities great. Nice people, not all of them, but most. We need some kind of amusement on Saturday and Sunday. It's so boring here when the activity room is locked up. If it was open we could at least play games or yoga exercise.

My loved one is currently a resident at Morada Fort Smith and overall everything has been very good for her, so far. The value for cost here is great! They worked very hard to get us in and did a fantastic job. I would recommend this facility to others.

Being Hebrew and eat clean/kosher, a majority of meal choices contains pork or pork products. Many vegetables and soups have bacon and pork ingredients. For diabetic residents a large number of choices of bread, pasta, potatoes, etc. Which limits or restricts their ability to eat healthy. There are conflicts among lower level staff creating a continual hostile work environment which top management refuses to address. Since the facility has come under new management, a number of amenities have been done away with with the reason being lack of funds. Activities have diminished to almost non existence. Many disgruntled residents freely expressing their discontentment. Now with the knowledge I have from experience it is likely I would make a different choice.

Overall the transition has been exceptional. The only thing my father gives negative feedback about is the food choices are sorta bland in his opinion. Apartment sizes are perfect!
My mother was injured moving her belongs from one apartment to another. I was told she would have assistance moving. She did not. She was hospitalized for a fractured vertebrae. Following the hospitalization, she had to have physical therapy. And was then moved to another facility. Morada required a 30 day notice. Mom paid 2 weeks in advance. She had lived there more than 13 years. They did not have the records to tell me if she had paid a deposit or not. I had No Way to contact the Morada corporation. Mom needed that money to go to the other facility. The reason she had to switch apartments was because of months long over due water damage in her apartment. They have submitted my 86-year-old mother to a collection agency. And for an amount much more than she was paying. My family cleaned her apartment immediately when we knew she could not return. What happens if a person dies?

I would highly recommend it they seem to have a genuine concern for my mom. We picked this community because of a site visit of several in my area they did everything they could to make my mom feel comfortable and the price was the cheapest and it is the best place of all that we visited.

The atmosphere of this community could be more modern and light and they could also use some updating with the décor. They are currently renovating and they may help things and brighten it up a little bit. We really like that the people are very friendly and we like the cookies!

Morada Fort Smith is a friendly and clean place, with good food. It's an all around great place to live. And I would recommend it to others looking for independent living.
The maintenance and cleaning crew have to help prepare and serve meals. The are very short staffed. Morada's facility is better than other facilities we visited, but they have problems that need to be dealt with. We are just really disappointed. They didn't tell us their last manager had been fired and that they had not replaced him. I think they recently hired a replacement. Almost all of the residents complain of having no staff member on duty once the exterior door is locked.

It is not the kitchen staff fault, but product they work with is out of a can or frozen. Much of what is offered on the dining table is covered with gravy, and fried in batter. Recently the management had a “All American Day”! The menu was a quick trip to increase your cholesterol, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, and milkshakes!! Really, one resident has a sign posted, ”do not bring any food from the Morada kitchen to my room “

Morada has become unkept, improperly staffed, and unsuccessfully tried to raise my mom's rent almost 9%, yet they spent money unwisely on unneeded improvements (ignoring basic maintenance). The manager has no powers, blames someone else when you ask to solve something, and has no problem solving skills. I've asked numerous times to correct something, for it to be ignored - then when after 4 times, draw a line, more blame and no Solutions. I got results finally going to the district manager, who doesn't take things personal, was easy to talk to, and listened. I had a solution in less than 2 hrs same day. It's very sad this could be a premier facility, but it's inefficiency and inexperience that is killing it. I know because my great aunts and uncles stayed here 2 decades ago. That's why we chose it. They also get you in at a cheap rate, to later raise it twice what other locations do. Seniors need safety and care. This situation is inexcusable.

A Place for Mom has scored Morada Fort Smith 8.4 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
