We are reporting based on a family member that was there for several years. The number one issue was lack of staff. Management obviously knew of the issue because at one point they indicated they were going to increase pay to attract and retain staff. Nothing improved that we noticed. Turnover was excessive. Staff didn’t seem happy about being there. Sounds simple, but was indicative of underlying problems. The head of nursing did her best but was left to handle too many issues. Beautiful facility but no enthusiasm, pleasantries, simple gestures of kindness. We wouldn’t take another loved one there.

The facility looks nice on the whole and they have lots of features like a gym for residents and a pub area. I didn't choose them because 1) they were significantly more expensive; 2) the apartments available were not as large or attractive, seeming rather dark even on a bright, sunny day; they responded by text message after the visit that my brother did not meet their criteria. That was it, no explanation of why. It may well have been due to ongoing confusion about two diabetic sores on his feet and knee that were categorized as pressure sores and frustratingly delayed his moving to Atria as well, but they didn't bother to explain or offer to discuss the issue. I didn't pursue it because I had already decided against the facility due to the first two reasons, but it would have been nice to know. Had I been seriously interested in that location, we could have worked out that problem, but the blunt rejection with no follow up was a red flag on its own. The sores healed within a few weeks, and that type of wound should not have prevented his moving to assisted living anyway. If they had a different concern, I have no idea what it was.
