Mayfair House Senior Living

Can't really rate the meals and dining. He did lose weight while he was there, which really wasn't a bad thing. Again, can't rate the activities. So, our overall experience was not the best for US! [name removed] needed more attention than they could give. The staff was wonderful and most loved my brother, especially [name removed]. They just could not handle him. I still can't believe we paid almost [fee removed] for [date removed]. To be honest, I think my husband and I needed a break! He is now in a group home with only one other person. He was awarded the Medicaid Waiver. He is doing well. Only been there a week so still adjusting. Thank you for your support on our journey!

From the first moment I walked in I was filled with the feeling, “this is the place for mom”. I have never met a more giving and caring group of people. Every employee introduced themselves during mom’s stay. People came to me whenever I arrived to update me. I am especially grateful to Kim, who was the only one in the hundreds of doctors, nurses and caregivers through hospital and rehab stays, to notice my mother was dying. I was stunned when she suggested hospice but I trusted and relied on everyone there. Even the hospice nurses didn’t see what was happening. When she passed I was so grateful to this group of caring people. It was a lot of work for three weeks but they did it gladly and professionally. If you are anywhere in the Tidewater area please visit Mayfair House. It will be worth the effort.

Most of the staff is very friendly. The biggest negative is the food they serve. The facility is nice and kept clean. The activities director has various activities and guests coming in.

My brother has been at Mayfair House for almost three months. For the most part, it has been good for him and us. We pay [fee removed] a month which is very reasonable in comparison to other places. We would recommend this community to other families based on our experience.

My dad was a resident at Mayfair House Senior Living and everything was great for him here. They were very friendly. Overall, I think that this is a great facility. They gave my dad excellent care while he was here. I would highly recommend this facility to others.

**This review is from my loved ones experiences a few years ago*** I think that Mayfair House Senior Living is a great assisted living facility, especially for the money. I do think they could improve on the cleanliness. Maybe pick the trash up more often? Some rooms had a urine smell when you passed by them. For the meals, they could add more color to the dinner servings as well.

The 4 star ratings aren't because something is wrong it's more because 5 stars should be used when it can't get better. I can also only give ratings based on my fathers feelings about things for those categories. We cannot comment on the activities because our loved one did not participate in them. It's in a quiet neighborhood. The maintenance team is quick to make sure the room had what it need to make my dad safe and comfortable. We were able to get a single room for a good price and the food is good apparently. Those were the two most important things for my dad. I also like that the doctor come to the facility.

What we really like about the Mayfair House is the friendliness and attentiveness from their caring staff team. However the lack of activities and no dedicated activity director is an area they could improve. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend the Mayfair House Senior Living community to other families.

[name removed], the director, was very friendly and genuine. She was also very frank and honest about resident requirements. She worked extensively with me on getting my mom a place there, until my mom's health deteriorated past the legal minimums for an Assisted Living Community. The staff was all nice and friendly as well. The facility was older but clean. The food was not all that great, but they tried. Overall, it was a very positive experience.

Mayfair House is in a great location. From what I have seen it is a nice and clean facility. My only issue is they don't have a vehicle to take the residents to go for outings on such as Walmart or out to eat. They also have a courtyard and I think they should take them outside at least once or twice a day so that they can get some from air and a change of scenery. Overall, I would recommend this facility.

I am definitely considering this facility for my mother. I liked that there is security to enter the building so not just anyone can wander inside, or outside. The staff seems to know all of the residents and have personal relationships with them. I watched a staff member taking multiple residents to their rooms from the dining area. She was fully engaged and you could see her care for the residents. The rooms are spacious having both bed and recliner. My impression was that this facility was more like a home residence than a traditional nursing home at better rates. I wouldn't hesitate to refer someone to this facility.

Mayfair House is an exceptional value. The manager and owners are wonderful. The staff is friendly and courteous. Concerns are addressed immediately. One concern is there are not a lot of amenities or many activities to get residents out if their rooms.

The administration and staff are congenial, supportive and truly care for my mother's needs. I was thrilled that they made her feel so welcomed, even as much to personally choose other residents with similar interests for dining. I find it clean and offer amenities such as washing clothes and free manicures :-)

My mother-in-law is settling in well here, the staff here are so friendly and helpful. My mother-in-law has started to take part in the different activities and special events they have here and her room is spacious. so she has room in her wheel chair. The staff makes sure she comes down to the dining room and joins the other residents during meal time. The grounds are very nice, with a nice courtyard so the residents can sit out side.

We have been very happy with Mayfair House. My mother is showing early signs of needing a higher level of care, and the staff have been helping her as much as they can. I would recommend this community because we have had a good experience with them.

My mother in law lived here for years and now my Mom is here...Love it!

wonderful facility - very much of a "homey" feel. Rooms were very spacious, very clean and well maintained. We only wish we could afford it but it's just a bit too much for someone on a very tight budget. Would highly recommend to others.
