They are very caring but they are not equipped for higher needs/ end of life care. If you are looking for skilled nursing of any type this is not the right facility.

Staff was attentive and my mom had her favorites. Took a couple of weeks to get her meds straightened out but they did I'd definitely recommend this facility, she loved it there. Her passing was totally unexpected. She adjusted right away. She had a very cute studio apt and she said it felt like home.

The staff is incredibly caring and has taken wonderful care of my mother. We picked this community, because it was the highest quality in Escanaba.

Do it, it has been a wonderful experience. The entire staff has gone above and beyond to ensure my loved one has a fantastic experience each and every day. My dad loves the food and the options that are provided. Facility is beautiful and very clean, he is very happy and very safe.

Northwoods is a vibrant and active place, full of life and activity. It does not have an institutional feel in the least. During monthly visits, I always observed residents comfortably engaged in conversation or participating in an activity. Staff go above and beyond to offer meaningful ways for residents to spend their time connecting with others and demonstrate great care, compassion, and respect in their interactions. The environment is welcoming - appealing and upbeat. Additionally, Northwoods is a leader in the community, working to bring agencies and organizations together around important issues for Seniors.

Highly recommend North Woods Place!

Clean, good food, most staff are skilled and pleasant BUT I feel there needs to be a commitment to what is promised residents. Such as a nurse on duty. Took a while to replace the one that left. I am concerned when I see that some excellent workers leave for reasons that could be rectified by Northwoods mgmt. It’s hard to replace good workers. I think residents should get the door code to get in and out if they are at the appropriate care level so they don’t have to stand waiting to get in at times. After all they are supposed to be able to take care of themselves for the most part and should have the right to use door as they see fit if they are able to. Also the residents that can’t clean themselves should be instructed how to do so or their contacts notified and care levels upped or moved . Not a great experience walking through and smelling the men soaked in urine everyday. I would imagine prospective residents and families probably get turned away by the odor also.

It is a lovely community. The people are nice here. It is very expensive. If your loved one needs memory care, this wouldn't be the community for them. The food was outstanding.

Everyone on staff very friendly. All residents seem happy. Good selection on meals, and staff is willing to substitute items anytime. I like the exercise class.

Overall, my husband and I are very happy here. WE could not get the value and services we are currently getting at any other community. Only complaint, I wish that the showers were a little bit ;larger for safety and accessibility.

She is very friendly and helpful. They are quick and helpful in answering call button. Meals need more variety

I lived at North Woods Place for the winter of [date removed]. I was very happy, and I felt very safe. The staff was very kind and thoughtful. And my apartment was cozy and comfortable. It was a good winter.

My brother became a resident in [date removed] with the COVID lock down, so experiences should change as things open up. As different from normal as things have been, everyone was friendly and doing their best.

This place looks really good on what i seen

The staff is friendly. The food is terrible — sometimes cold, sometimes overcooked, processed, canned, loaded with fat and sugar. I've never seen a fresh vegetable. Residents other than my loved one also complain. I often hear talk of meat that is too tough to eat. Food is the highlight of many residents' day. Please put some effort into quality and proper preparation.

A first class facility. The staff are very friendly and [name removed] did an excellent job in taking the time to explain the workings of the facility in detail and fully answer all my questions. The tour provided a good physical experience of the community. The only downside, that could be a deal breaker, are certain associated fees or costs.

RN Executive Director [REmoved] IS NEVER THERE IN THE AFTERNOONS! I HAVE QUESTIONS & THAT IS THE ONLY TIME I CAN CALL OR STOP BY DUE TO MY WORK SCHEDULE. WHY SOMEONE IN THAT POSITION WOULD NEVER BE AVAILABLE IN THE AFTERNOONS IS BEYOND ME!!! SO FRUSTRATING! THAT'S WHY I GAVE UP & CHOOSE ANOTHER FACILITY FOR MY PARENTS!

This community was very nice and super clean. The people were extremely helpful and very nice as well. The residents were out and participating in different activities that they had going on. We liked the whole feel of the place!

I have a difficult time handing out the grade of A+ for any subject or duty, so a straight A is the rating I give to my mother's care here. JoAnne and I were both in and out of Sue's room for most of days before we lost her. We had her playing cards and I took her downstairs for a few meals, but she wasn't eating much. I was visiting with her one afternoon and I asked her if she was depressed and she admitted that she was. I got her address apparatus out and started calling her children she got to speak to a couple and that seemed to perk her up a bit. I probably made a pest of myself to some extent, but it seemed like the right thing to do. I learned of Sue's being taken to the hospital yesterday when I was on the way to visit her. She had complained of her stomach hurting the night before and I attributed it to a lack of nourishment (stomach growling). I had given her a bottle or our favorite liquid A & W Root Beer and she had finished most of it. I was informed of her going to the hospital the next morning with concern. Wish I could have done more.
