Kingston Care Center of Sylvania

My sister reports that her experience at Kingston Rehab (Sylvania) "was a nightmare." She seemed to be experiencing so much trouble that after 4 1/2 days she begged, "Get me out of here." We did, against medical advice. By then, she had pneumonia, severe cellulitis and a urinary tract infection. We believe one of more of these conditions were brought on by substandard care (A GREAT PT named [name removed] was an exception) Otherwise, 1) She says staff were so slow responding to call lights that she was left in her own urine. 2) on Day 2 she had to activate the alarm while stranded in the bathroom. She said it took 20 minutes to answer the alarm. When someone responded THEY went for help & she says that took another 10 minutes. [name removed] is a Little Person and also felt discriminated against. Postings are difficult for her in her current condition. I am posting on her behalf & that of many others who are upset and saddened over her treatment at Kingston.

The staff seems to really care about my mothers well being. It is easy to get staff to talk with you if needed issues arise. The building is very clean with no offensive smells. I cannot thank them enough for all they have done!

My mother has dementia, so it is hard to rate her care. She has misplaced her glasses and get hearing aides. When brought to the care givers attention they acted surprised she had neither. I did talk with administration and they did work on a new plan of care. But do to her condition it is difficult to completely care for her needs completely. They do conferences every other month she is kept clean and she seems to be well adjusted. She still remains with the regular residents, they are striving to keep her in one location and one routine. That to me is very caring and important to help with her mentally. The staff really cares for the residents well being. I cannot thank them enough.
