The house was clean and we came just after lunch and they were already preparing dinner. No processed food all home cooking it smelled delicious. My mom loved home cooking.[names removed] are awesome they and their staff take excellent care of not only their patients but the family members as well. My mom wasn't there very long but I know that she was taken care of like she was a member of their own family.

I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. I feel very comfortable having my loved one here. The staff get to know the residents and families, so the family is able to relax a little more. There are home cooked meals. This is a smaller community with a max of 5 or 6 residents. The owner is very friendly and helpful. They want to make sure they are doing everything correct. There is a lot of communication between the staff and family, which is appreciated.

This was a great community and the tour was nice there was just another community that was larger and had more socialization and I felt like this community was too small. The staff were nice and very clean, a nice garden and the owner was great it was just not a great fit for my loved one. It would be great for someone that does not need a lot of stimulation.
I am a current client of Karo Mina I never doubted this choice for my mom, who has several health issues which prevent her from caring for herself. I did plenty of research and made the right choice. Mom is happier, cleaner and is eating better. The owner keeps in touch if there are changes, which are rare. She is fantastic, and so good serving all mom needs. We are so relieved knowing that mom is finally accepting such great care. Karo Mina does a great job, and are very caring..

May 9, 2022We pride ourselves on providing the best care that an assisted living board & care home can provide. We could have not possibly stayed in business for over 13 years with excellent reviews on all platforms, if we are as you have described us! You had always raved about our excellent service and how well your mother was taken care of; we have all the text messages to prove it from the first week your mother moved into Karo Mina until we gave you the 30 day notice. In fact we consulted with the State of CA Department of Social Services and they recommended to give your mother a 30 day notice, based on everything that we are about to say; we provided them with proof. But first, I would like to remind you that your mother was at 2 communities before arriving at Karo Mina and as you said, she was with us for 2 months then moved to a 4th community; all 4 communities within 1 year. She was at the community before Karo Mina for 2 weeks only! When your mother came to Karo Mina, she had been on hospice for almost a year and due to the excellent care we provided, she was taken off hospice after 1 month of being with us. Your mother's toe nails were almost 2 inches long when she came to us and we had asked you several times from day 1 to hire a podiatrist to take care of them but you said many times that you will not pay $200 out of your own pocket, and you will find out if Kaiser will cover the expense instead of paying out of pocket. Toe nails grow on average about 1.62 mm (0.06 inches) per month but this growth rate is much slower in elderly people. This means that your mother's toe nails had not been cut for over a year and could had not possibly grown almost 2 inches during the 2 months she was at Karo Mina, not even a quarter inch. You consistently failed to provide her medication on timely manner, such as being a week late on providing her antibiotics. You consistently blamed her doctor for failing to provide updated doctor's reports (for a month), prescription medications, and always had an excuse for not signing any necessary paperwork. You refused to give us a copy of your mother's insurance card and ID for emergencies. Our contract clearly states Karo Mina Care Home rules and visitation hours. When you came to visit your mother in [date removed], it was about 15 minutes after visitation hours and your mother was sleeping. Typically when a resident is sleeping, we turn off their TV and adjust the lighting to allow them to rest. You went into your mother's room with your fiancé, woke your mother up, yelled at me, “how come her TV is off" and you were extremely rude & condescending. In addition to all that, you treated me and the staff with disrespect and a condescending tone. All of the above may explain why your mother moved to 4 different communities within a year. We decided that it was not going to work out and to give your mother a 30 day notice to move out, after we had consulted with the State of CA as mentioned before. You were extremely upset because you knew that your mother was very well cared for and you were going to have to move her again, for the 4th time. You asked us to send the new community her old, outdated doctor's report from when she was on hospice, which is illegal, and you got angry when we refused. You threatened us and also said "I Promise that the last laugh will be on you". We have all text messages between you and Karo Mina Staff with all the information mentioned in this response.
It was a really good experience for our family. The staff were very kind, friendly, and easy to work with. And our loved one was very comfortable there.
The staff members and care takers were all very friendly. The food there was all made by hand, which was a huge plus. They made the meals depending on the residents dietary needs, so they were very accommodating. During Christmas time they had some carolers come by and sing, but just with the covid restrictions the activities were pretty limited, but we think everything did a good job we were satisfied. Karo Mina location wise is in a good spot, we have nothing negative to say about the place. It was kept clean and neat.

Karo Mina Care Home is a wonderful place for your loved ones. For over 6 years they treated my mother with such love and special care. The facility is always clean and spotless. The meals are amazing and homemade. I would highly recommend Karo Mina Care Home. It's a place of love, kindness and gentleness. The people that work their are very caring and gentle. I can't say enough about Karo Mina; it's a place your loved ones can call home.

I love this place! It is a very clean place in a very beautiful safe area and the staff are very friendly and kind and they do excellent job taking care of the seniors. They provide entertaining activities and their food is very good. I recommend this beautiful, clean, sunny place for anyone who needs care for the loved ones.

Our mother is a resident at Karo Mina Care Home. The facility is a home setting. They have a living room, separate dining room, and outside patio and garden area. The house is always clean and neat. Our mother has been a resident for nearly 3 years. She has a single room and it is spacious and well kept. The food is always homemade and there is variety with the lunches and dinners. The staff are kind and caring and whenever we visit they are friendly and helpful. The owners are quick to notify us if ever our mother needs medical attention and whenever there is something our mother needs. If we have an idea about how to improve our mother's quality of life the owners are open to hearing our suggestions and working with us to implement them if feasible. Excellent communication between the owners and ourselves make us feel connected to our mother, for example we are able to video chat with our mother regularly using our phones and iPad. We have full schedules with our own work and families, and because the owners alert us whenever necessary and help us stay connected with our mother we feel more at ease. Overall a pleasant, welcoming and caring environment. We highly recommend this facility.

My sister and I were looking for home in early 2018 for our Aunt. We found this wonderful care home ! We had checked out the reviews as anyone would do. I have to say this place is beyond a 10 Star for us. [Name removed] and her staff really do a an exceptional job of taking care of our Aunt and also to everyone else's well being. They look after their health, hygiene, food and activities all in a compassionate way. [Name removed] and her staff are just exceptional. I had to move far away and I do miss may aunt but I know she is in a good safe place and that is a great peace of mind.

Had a wonderful experience with [Removed] care for my father, home is impeccable, residence were always clean and relaxed whenever I dropped by unannounced, staff take care of residents on a personal level (birthday's, holidays,etc,,) very accommodating and professional.

Mona was nice enough, also very accommodating, but very excitable and emotional, did not know how to handle adverse situations and her staff is not adequately trained as far as the care of an elderly person. My mother was there for four days ! had an infection that they did not notice and died because of her infection . If Mona and her staff were better trained, or at all ,they would have noticed all the signs ,but because of their inexperience and lack of sufficient training they noticed nothing. My mother had such a bad infection the doctors could not save her and she died 1 day after leaving Mona's care, my suggestion is always check qualifications and references when looking for elderly Care Professionals. Never trust anyone who has anything to do with elderly care it's all about the money!!!!!

February 3, 2017Greg, thank you for your review despite the short time your mother spent at our facility. My prayers goes to you for your loss. However, I'm disappointed that your review did not mention all the facts accurately. Your mother only stayed at our facility for 2 and half days; she moved on 12/13/2016 and left on 12/15/2016. Your mother was between hospitals and rehab for almost 4 months before she came to Karo Mina for the same condition she died from. When I first went to visit her at rehab for an assessment of her condition, I had recommended moving your mother to hospice but you refused. Even rehab recommended the same but you insisted on placing her at an assisted living facility. Since I have over 15 years experience caring for seniors including 14 years working with hospice, I agreed to care for your mother. On the day your mother moved to Karo Mina, December 13th, she had stomach aches due to the same condition she had been suffering from. She could not eat and was only able to take liquids such as ensure, soup or very light oatmeal. We spoke on the phone and you informed me that a nurse will come see your mother the next day. On Wednesday, December 14th the nurse didn't show up. Your mother continued to have the same stomach aches when she ate but they were never painful enough to take her to the emergency room. You came to Karo Mina to see your mother on the evening of Wednesday, December 14th and I mentioned to you that the nurse hasn't come yet. You were upset at her insurance services and said a nurse should have come to see her already. You actually thanked me for caring for your mother then left. In the morning of Thursday, December 15th, your mother seemed to have less pain and I even sent you a picture of her in a text massage after she finished her lunch and you responded back "Awesome". In the afternoon, your mother started having the same aches and asked to lay down. During that time a nurse finally arrived and your mother woke up with the same stomach aches. The nurse performed a few tests on your mother and decided to transfer her to the hospital. Your mother spent Thursday night there and passed away on Friday, December 16th. Greg, I'm even more disappointed that you mentioned "money" at the end of your review despite the fact that you did not pay me for your mother's stay until 9 days after she had passed away. Typically, a deposit is required before a resident moves in but I was flexible with you due to the circumstances.
The staff at Karo Mina Care Home are taking good care of my mom. The staff keep me updated on her care. She says the food is good. She does participate in a few activities and the one thing I would say is that they need a few more activities. I would recommend this community to family and friends.
