The staff has been very accommodating, especially regarding food - which is always an issue for my brother (4 in that category from him is good). I would recommend Juniper Village at Brookline to others.

They aren't very forthcoming with their information. When a patient falls, or a medication is changed, family is not notified in a timely manner. I've found out information through the pharmacy that is used about a medication change, and other things through family members.

Response from Juniper Village at Brookline Senior Living
October 3, 2023Hi there. Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Please reach out to us directly so we may address any questions you may have about how we share information. It is standard practice in our industry to use one family member (usually the healthcare power of attorney) as the primary contact for updates regarding care.
Our family had an in person tour and it was nice but the cost was just to high for us.
My Mother was in the assisted living side for over 2 years and transitioned to the skilled care side. The skilled care side is 5 stars from management to staff. Excellent caring side. Hard to imagine anything better. The assisted living side was also excellent from a caring and daily staff side. The management and front office help on the Inn side was slightly below bad. Response time to normal questions was weeks or months. In fact the manager ducked out of sight when my sister came in to clean out my Mothers belongings. We asked for help in getting my Mother's long term care insurance to kick in and they were not helpful, and when they did respond the answers were almost like it was for another person. There was no written long term care program for her and after we asked multiple times for one we got one but it was was well after she had moved to assisted living. If that management was under my control there would be at least one person redoing their resume.

This is a great place. They were very welcoming and very willing to work with our unique situation, which was very much appreciated. We were very much treated like individuals, and they took the time to work through unique details with us. They were incredibly caring, and they made a difficult transition very successful. Our loved one enjoyed the activities very much. She particularly enjoyed the exercise program and liked to be active. She also enjoyed the social community aspects of being around other people and being able to talk with them. Her room was incredibly clean, and somebody came into room daily to make her bed. We were very impressed. There were never any smells, her bathroom was clean, and everything was always immaculate.

There are communities that are cheaper in the area that provide the same care. But the community is clean, neat and the staff is friendly. The food was really good and I would recommend this community to others if you can afford it.

Mom was in juniper for rehab for a few weeks after a broken hip. We never got to visit her due to COVID, so do not know of the physical conditions. However, they wanted to "send her back" within a few hours of receiving her, as she was combative and uncooperative (she has dementia). We had to tell the nurses how to approach her and what to do to get more cooperation. The staff should have known all of that! Lack of training on their part? Should be standard in nursing school!

We chose Juniper Village at Brookline Senior Living because of the proximity to where I live. My mom's room is a nice size. The food here is good, they have some variety and the food is fairly fresh. My favorite part and my mothers favorite part about the community would be having people around to socialize with and the community atmosphere. I would recommend.

The main negative I have is the billing was always messed up. I feel it was expensive. It was an average place. It is geared more toward younger independent living folks who do not need much care. They have tons of activities. Not so good for folks that need help with higher end care needs.

Nursing staff is excellent! Can ask for help if you need it! Housekeepers help keep your room clean and fresh towels and your laundry (on Monday) kitchen help makes good meals. Can have something made to order. Connections dept has many good activities, grocery bus 2pm Tuesday.

December 20, 2017Hi, your wonderful feedback and rating mean a lot to us. Thanks again for the recommendation, and have an amazing day!
Excellent friendly, caring staff. Accommodations, services rate an “A” too. Staff/Nursing/Resident ratio was very good. Friendly. “Affordable” compared to competition. Administration was excellent, too. An “enjoyable” 3 1/2 month stay. If assisted living again become necessary. I will return.

The grocery bus is my favorite land if you can’t go, [Removed] (the driver), will get it for you. The food gets better and better. You can have whatever main course you want and choose your side dishes! [Removed] (transports) gives you rides to different apartments. The connections department has lots of neat art and crafts. I’ve made 3 door hangers (American flag, Nittany lions and hello spring).
