It is a very old community and it is showing. There are some units being remodeled, but most are like stepping back into the 70s. I was not pleased with the state of my dads unit. He did have to make a last minute change, but the unit he moved into was what I have been describing as gross. Also, my dad did not receive his call pendant until three days after he moved in. He did fall within those three days while getting out of the shower and the grab bar came out of the wall when he grabbed it. They fixed it quickly, but it just solidified the fact that all the units need to be updated before someone gets seriously injured.... Read more

Worst place to put your loved one. My mom was healthy and weighed 125 lbs within 4 months she was 98 lbs and we had to put her on hospice. She passed within a few weeks after that. Paying [removed] a month for assisted living. This place does not contact family nor do they care what the residents do. [name removed] the director lies all the time. If you want your loved one taken care of DO NOT let them live at inglenook. The place is old and dirty

Response from Inglenook At Brighton
June 16, 2023Thank you for your feedback, we are in the process of upgrading our units and we know the last-minute change as you described, resulted in a non-updated unit. Please let us know if there is anything more we can do to make your dad comfortable. We hope the active renovations improve the overall aesthetics of the community for all to enjoy.
Our family had an in person tour and the tour experience itself was fine, the staff were inviting but everything seemed very disorganized with stacks of paper everywhere. They had said on the tour that they were in the process of remodeling - but from what we have heard it has been going on for years. The facility was dirty and when we had asked the residents if they liked living here or not you could tell the staff were very resistant to that and we got the impression the residents were not happy. Their dining room was very chaotic- they have a stage in the dining room that was full of storage and boxes which really threw us off. Most of the lights were turned off as well so it just was very dark and dingy. We toured in the middle of the day and we did not see any activities at all, it just seemed really depressing.
Response from Inglenook At Brighton
June 16, 2023We do apologize for the delay in our remodel and that you did not get to experience our upgrades. We would love to welcome you back to experience our renovations and community activities.
We toured with Inglenook at Brighton and really liked this facility - it was a close second option for us.
Response from Inglenook At Brighton
June 16, 2023Thank you for coming in to tour and for the great feedback!
We had a good first impression from Inglenook. The facility is bigger but is very nice and they seemed to have a lot offered. The reason we did not choose them was because they have threshold bathrooms and there is a patio off of the rooms that you would have to take a step down to get to. If you have a loved one with mobility issues this may not be the best fit.
Loved the courtyard and balcony! The 1 bedrooms are updated and are of a good size. This is in an older building in the city, [distance removed] from me. The cost is high. [Fee removed.] And you have to pay for your phone and power. [Fee removed] to drive Mom to Dr appointments in [location removed], wait for her and bring her back home. Seemed to be ok with Mom moving in next week after an assessment.

We have had a good experience with Inglenook. We chose this facility because of the value for the money, it is an older facility so it has some dings, but because it is older the rooms are nice and large. I would tell others to make sure to stay on top of things, you cannot just assume everything is being taken care of. I would definitely recommend to take a look.

Apartments are way too small and geared toward people that need care rather than people that are totally independent.

I wanted to find an area that I could give at least 1 star...but there just aren't any. The prices published are very misleading, there are other expenses they have not included and some we didn't find out until after a month of being here. The staff come and go so quick you don't know who they are. Activities are 'self-directed' and the food is hit or miss, although the dining room runs pretty efficiently! Not the best place around by any means...

Some of the reviews are questionable and seem contrived (4 reviews on 12-3-2018, each with 4 stars). This place is very dated and worn out. Failed attempts to update apartments have resulted in layers upon layers of institutional white paint covering old dark wood doors and baseboards, topped off with popcorn ceilings. The management has zero clue who lives in the facility and the Executive Director comes out of her office just long enough to go to the kitchen. The direct care staff are sweet and try hard, but are poorly managed by the LPN who wants nothing more than to catch the staff or residents doing something wrong. We find the atmosphere tense and unwelcoming. The activities are sad, dull and lacking. No stimulation of brains and no organized activities run by an activity director (there is an office for an activity director, but the door is closed and lights are always off). The ONE thing this place does right is meals. Generally, the food is tasty, a good variety and the dining experience is enjoyable. Be cautious...the cost is higher than newer and better run places-we were able to move my parent to a much nicer, new place for less money and amazing amenities activities and care! There are lots of hidden fees you get socked with after moving in. The care staff are run ragged and Inglenook will under staff to save money. Things like laundry, trash removal and room cleaning are supposed to be done as part of the cost, but unless you ask, they will not get taken care of. Please, you can do better for your loved one...keep looking. It may mean an inconvenience to move them a bit from Brighton, but this place is NOT worth the convenience!

I had recently taken a tour of this community for my mother and I was pleased with the presentation that we had received. The staff where kind and where patient with all of our questions. They had a spacious dinning room as well common area spaces. I thought they had a nice floor plan and a lot of great amenities for the residents it was just not the right fit in the end decision for her.

I like the care that is being. The staff is great and we like that they are friendly and keep us informed on his progress. We know that he is happy with the variety of meals that are offered. He likes the variety of differnt activities that are offere to help him participate with the other residents. We would recommend this clean and nice enviroment for other families.

This place seems a bit old and a little worn. All rooms are the same whether you are Independent Living or Assisted Living. If you transition from IL to AL, they will just remove your stove. The stove is not a full stove, but a half stove.

I like this community for the good care that is offered. The staff is very nice and attentive to her needs. They are always wanting to make sure that things are going well for her. They stay on top of things and resolved them quickly. The food is very good and she is enjoying the meals. They offer her to participate in activities. We do recommend the care and value to other families.

How lucky we are to have this facility in Brighton! Inglenook recently opened this Memory Care wing and they spared no expense and researched the programs to place in this wing of their Assisted Living community. The staff goes out of their way to help your family member and to meet the needs of the individual and other family members. My husband is happy there and the meals and snacks provided are very good. The doctors and nurses on staff are wonderful and have helped to make the transition from home to Inglenook a wonderful experience for all of us. We especially like the room/apartment layout and the great room, dining room and large patio areas. The small unit size allows for lots of individual attention for your loved one.

Turnover in the kitchen has been pretty extreme past year or two, and the food and service have suffered as a result. Hopefully this will be fixed soon, but it's already been going on for a while. Hard to keep good people under those circumstances. Other than that, though, the junior-level staff is very helpful and friendly. Senior staff is a bit aloof, and they tend to check out well before 5 pm quitting time. A lot of insider-hiring, too. If your sister works there, you'll work there. If your mom works there, you'll get a job there too. That's the nature of small towns, and I it works okay here.
