My loved one is currently a resident at Harmony House Manor. There is minimal staff at this facility. When I visit, I rarely actually see or talk to any employees. I have actually had NO communication with the staff, except for when someone happens to be delivering food. My loved one says that the food is not good. The housekeeping is not the greatest and my loved one frequently has to ask them to vacuum and clean her bathroom. There are NO activities offered for the residents. My loved one is relatively independent, but does need assistance with some things. She seems to be getting that at Harmony House Manor, which is why she is still there.... Read more

I have not had a positive experience while visiting in the Alzehimer's/dementia unit. I have been in nursing over 40+ years and never had the experience of aides yelling at residents, This facility I have seen this several times by two of the aides. Your aides seem to forget the residents have rights and they ignore them. Also, in any facility I worked at the residents had several selections for their meal selections. This facility it's one person cooking and delivering meals with no selections, so we buy our own food for our resident. You eat what they have or go hungry, so we buy our resident the food but still being charged in the room price. In a dementia unit the residents need stimuli and there is no activities or interaction with the residents. No music or movies. They reside in their rooms 24/7. The aides sit in the hallway on their phones or as I have seen dozing off. I would NEVER refer anyone to this facility.

Mom was left in a chair unattended in a closet that they called a “room”. Wouldn’t recommend anyone send a loved one there. No one checked her throughout the day. She was always unclean and left sitting for hours if not all day in urine soaked disposable underwear.

Harmony House is a quiet and homey place. I like that over a sterile, hospital like atmosphere. I picked this community because I grew up with [name removed] and only had 60 days to find a place for my Mom and we wanted Johnstown area.

Harmony House is a very clean community and the staff members have been excellent. We have had no disappointments when it comes to the quality of care our loved one is receiving. We have not had any experience with the meals but our loved one seems to enjoy them and is putting on some weight. This is out loved one third community and the value here is by far superior and based on the experience we have had so far we would recommend this community to other families.

The main problem is that they are completely understaffed and the staff has inadequate training especially in mobility issues. Only one person on night shift. This was the only facility available at the time we placed our relative. They dramatically over promised and could not handle our loved one.

Harmony House is good to use and the owner was very good with my loved one and family. The communication with the staff and owner was available anytime we needed to speak to them about questions or concerns we had about our loved one. They even tried to assist us with Veteran's Assistance for my loved one. They had a doctor that would come to the community on certain days to check the residents. They had nurses and medical aides on site as well.

I thought they did a wonderful job, for the price, and for the level of extra care my loved one needed with Alzheimer's. It was hard not being able to go in during Covid, but from everything I experienced and saw, I'd say they did an excellent job. Most of my interaction was with the administrator, and she was very good. She always called me back and was very on top of everything. When I was able to make one final visit right before my loved one passed, she seemed very comfortable and well taken care of. Harmony House Manor was an excellent value. And they had no Covid cases the entire time my loved one was there.

The facility is old but the staff are very good. The staff are very aware of the clients that are the most confused and are able to watch and keep them safe. It is also my less expensive than some of the other facilities in the area. They take pride in keeping all the clients safe.

A Place for Mom has scored Harmony House Manor 7.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
