We had not heard of Harmony until A Place for Mom recommended. We were impressed with the layout of the facility and the rooms. My mom loves her apartment. Unfortunately the staff has changed at least 3 times and we are not as pleased with the service that my mom is receiving. The activities director does not TRY to get the residents involved and with my mom's memory state she needs constant invites The manager has never returned any communication when I reach out to her. I am not sure if the experience we've had is the norm, or if we got in during a turn over but there have been at least 3-4 different 'admins' (that we have not been able to get in touch with) from the start of touring, to since we moved in. I try to give the benefit of the doubt however, my grandmother has had her medication delivery missed, her water is lukewarm at best, she has people bringing meds at odd hours of the night. The overall feeling is that no one knows what's going on and the resident care is suffering for it. It is clean, but the day to day care seems unsteady.

My family picked it for me. They said it was the best for the money and it has a full kitchen. The numbers are low, but I am happy here. The numbers are taken from things I hear not my own experiences.

Overall, a good place. They have a few great employees but sadly, some lazy ones who sit on their cell phone all day. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend Harmony at Brookberry Farm to other families who may need a place for their loved ones.

My dad is in independent care, so question 4 is not fully applicable. He also stays in his room and does not eat in dining room or activities. I am trying to get him out but no success yet. No issues right now with Harmony. They are working to improve culture since relatively new place.

The facility and apartments are nice but overpriced for services provided. For over $[removed]per month you get a 1br/1bath apartment, 1 meal per day, transportation provided if needed only 2 days per week and some activities like bingo, outings, etc. A life alert button is given to residents to wear around their neck. The resident I have there fell and couldn't get up, pressed the button for help and nobody came for 45 minutes. The person who came was the front desk receptionist, who called EMS to come help him up and they left him without checking him out. I called EMS the next day because he was in pain and he was transported to the hospital where they found he had a broken bone in his foot, bruised ribs and was in AFib. He was treated in the hospital over a week and sent to skilled nursing for further care for 20 days. You're just as well off to live in an apartment than independent living at this facility for $[removed] per month.

My Mother moved to [community name removed] in May of 2024. Things have absolutely improved for the better and she is very happy there. Our experience at Brookberry was less than stellar. Staff and management communication was inconsistent and unreliable in part because it is totally a revolving door of employees. Example in the two years there we had 5 directors of nursing and at length of time there was no one. The staff on the floors seemed to have very little training. Some were caring with Mother but others stood behind the nurses station and discussed what time they were leaving. In the several times weekly we visited we discussed among ourselves that there was just such limited interchange with the residents. The last final thing was when Mother fell and no one notified us even though she had bruises in her body and face. We then made the change. It is a beautiful , inviting space. I give a 4 to the meals initially and a 3 when she left. The dining room is very nice and inviting. Activities: Initially , there were some activities , eventually just bingo and then just tv and very bored residents. Value for the money: as Mother was in memory care we expected more in terms of patient time with staff and interaction. That was not present to my family . At[fee removed] per month , this was a lot of money for what she received. I rented the largest room available and that added to the price but I give the value a 2. She basically rented a room and was fed. Sorry to sound so negative on Brookberry. It is a beautiful facility but obviously management needs to relook at everything.

The difficulties at this facility involves the lack of and rapid turnover of staff. My parents are unhappy when things aren't uniformly done because the facility is scrambling for personnel. Also the kitchen rating has not been great and the assisted living section just had a bad report from some agency.

They do not have it together. Lot of turnover in staff and admin. Care level was poor. Mom would be in a wet pull up all day. They just dropped food in her room instead of encouraging her to go down and dine. Short staffed constantly. Many weekends with 2 people to cover to floors. Management not nice to staff . I could go on and on. They should keep to independent living.

Mom’s been there for 2 mos-during that time we hear regular complaints about the meal quality-many times over or under cooked meats and side dishes. I know this is a common complaint in care facilities, but given the rental rates, she expected better. Longer term residents have told us that the meals “used to be really good, but they’ve gotten steadily worse over the past few months.” Our primary concern is their staffing difficulties which leave one aide to cover an entire floor of residents each weekend. This causes lengthy delays in assistance and more than once no one has come to take her to the dining room. The staff is very courteous and helpful, and the facilities themselves are quite nice. They’re clean and very well kept, from what we’ve seen. This could be a stellar place if they could increase the number of good caregivers and improve the quality of the meals.

High staff turnover. Food preparation and quality and food service is poor. Outside of that all positive. Rates seem reasonable. Great facilities and room. Staff is friendly and supportive.

April 25, 2024Thank you for your review! It is a pleasure to serve you and your family. We appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback and willingness to share your experience.
My sister is the resident, she says food isnt good, & there has been disturbing amount of staff turnover. Our goal in selecting it was safety and basic amenities such as heat, building maintenance & opportunities for social interactions.

I have to be very hands - on to ensure my mother is getting the care that she needs. The leadership here has been very disappointing. They have all turned over so maybe it will get better. If someone is independent, this is probably is a great place, but my mom is not. My mother has to take all of her meals in her room so it is always cold. On top of that the ingredients are not fresh. Seems institutional.

They are responsive and good to work with. We picked this community because of the washer/dryer in the unit, and newness of the facility.

July 19, 2023Thank you for your positive review! We appreciate you taking the time to visit Harmony, we hope you join our family.
The move in was not good. There was no help from the staff and their equipment was pitiful. They said they were buying proper equipment so that may be changed, but they still need staff to assist with things like furniture. They were brand new and had a lot of problems that may not exist now. I gave a 3 overall rating because you couldn't get through to anyone by phone or otherwise. This was very upsetting to me and my Mom.

It's a waste of money unless you enjoy socializing, going on outings etc. I am not a social person, it's all a waste of my money. Things never get fixed, I'm sure that there are lots of fun things to do here, I'm just not interested. Others would probably like it here. I picked this community, because it was close to family and care services.

They maintain their facility impeccably and are attentive to any problems. Staff are courteous and accommodating. I would definitely recommend to others. We picked this community, because of the attractiveness (newness and cleanliness)of the facility and options for room lay out appealed to us. My sister's first room was lovely as a small apartment lay out. She has since been moved to the Memory Care unit which is not quite as spacious but still nicer than most. The location was also a factor as it was centrally located between family.
