Harmony Assisted living has been a wonderful place for my mother. Everyone says when you move your loved one, they will regress for a little as they get used to their new surrounding, but Mother transitioned without any regression. After the first week I was telling Mother goodbye and that I loved her--she responded that she loved me to , then she turned to the worker and said :"I LOVE YOU" with much more emphasis than she did to me. It made me know that she was very comfortable there. A nurse practioner comes in every Thursday, a podiatrist comes in every 2-3 months, a hair dresser comes in weekly, they have a family pharmacy that fills their prescriptions when needed, and every day there are PT's and OT's in and out. I only planned to move my mother one time, they have assured me that they will care for Mother even if her needs change and she will not have to move again. This is a family owned facility and they make the residents feel like they are an extended part of their family. The girls that work with the residents do a great job of helping each other, I have never head any of the girls be any thing but supportive of each other in helping the residents. I did not want my mother to live anywhere that I would not be willing to live. I would not mind moving into Harmony myself.... Read more

After touring many assisted living communities and board and care residential homes I decided on Harmony Assisted Living in San Mateo which is a small board and care for my 93 year old mother. She will be doing a 2 month respite while I'm out of the country. I'm hoping she will choose to stay there permanently when I return. Terri, the owner and primary care provider, is a licensed nurse with over 20 years experience and truly loves what she does. There is a lot of personalized care and social interaction and the house is very clean. Terri is also up to date on technology and we are able to Skype. With my iPad I'm able to talk and see my mother at the same time while in Italy. To a 93 year old this is "amazing"!

It is SUPERB! A+ all the way around! My mom's not very active but they keep her awake and doctor her and stuff. I like everything about the way Terri runs the place. It's clean, quiet and the women are being very well cared for. She speaks English clearly. She charges more, I'm paying about $4,600 a month, but I can't even tell you how happy I am with this place. Terri is an LVN, a licensed vocational nurse and she's there all the time.
