I would highly recommend Golden Stage to others for their loved ones. The caregivers were pheromonal during my loved one's stay. They were compassionate, patient, loving, and caring towards my loved one. The food wasn't as balanced as it could be for every meal. Some of the meals seemed to be more of a snack instead of a full meal. They had hired a chef during the end of my loved one's stay.... Read more
Nestled on the southern reaches of Texas Hill Country, Golden Stage Assisted Living rests at the border that separates the Southwest from the Southeast. The quiet, countryside setting, surrounded by California fan palms, ash, and juniper trees, feels just far enough from the hustle and bustle of the city, while remaining no more than a short drive to all that San Antonio has to offer.
San Antonio is known for its colonial architecture and an intersection of cultural heritage. The famous Alamo, originally known as Mission San Antonio de Valero, was the first mission in San Antonio and offers a glimpse into the city’s storied past. Steps from the Alamo is the world-renowned Riverwalk, a 15-mile waterway through the center of the city. Hop on a barge or walk the scenic walkways to museums, parks, and restaurants.

The thing we liked most about Golden Stage at Leon Springs was the layout of the actual facility and it was homey. It is not as big as some of the other places that we looked into as well. The room sizes here are good and they do have a variety to choose from based on your needs. They do always seem to have activities going on and the residents are always busy. Overall, we have been extremely happy with our experience here.

Golden Stage Assisted Living is a wonderful place for people needing assisted living. It is a small facility allowing for special individual care for every patient. The caregivers are the best. I have never visited when the facility wasn't very clean and welcoming.

We had so many options, a lot of variety and we could see what was going to work and what wasn't. It was nice to have A Place For Mom put it together and arrange the tours for us. At this community we felt that it was nice but not as well designed. It was not going to work out.

Our mother, was a resident of Golden Stage Assisted Living Home for about a year and a half. During that time she was well taken care of by the qualified professionals who work there. They provided appropriate meals and toward the end when she was unable to feed herself, they would spoon feed her and made sure she got some nourishment. Her clothes, bed linens, private room and bath were always clean. there was never a bad odor when visiting this beautiful home. The residents were involved in activities such as games that helped them with their cognitive and agility skills. Two young ladies who worked there got them involved as best they could. At night if our Mom couldn't sleep, one of the ladies would sit with her until she would fall asleep. As difficult as it is to leave a loved one in a strange place, we were confident that no harm would come to her. We knew our Mom was happy there. I would highly recommend this assisted living home.

Nice neighborhood and nice home. But there was no place for Dad to join in at the common area except at the dining table; there was too much furniture and no room for his wheelchair. More importantly, the rooms I saw smelled like urine, and the floors were sticky.

If you have a loved one who for the most part is cognitively intact and fairly active this may not be the place. Most of the residents are wheelchair bound and they are just rotated from bed, to table, to wheelchair or to couch. If you are the resident who can walk and communicate, you feel isolated and depressed. There are no stimulating activities offered. You sit and watch tv all day or work on that one magnetic puzzle for the 100th time. The only thing to look forward to is the weekend when family may visit and meals have been unbalanced . Unfortunately, most of the residents cannot communicate and are unable to voice any concerns of their own so it would be hard to get their viewpoint. The upside: by all appearances the place is beautiful and a much better option than a nursing home. It is very well maintained. My family member says they are nice, and nobody has physically or emotionally abused her.

This is a nice smaller facility, and I really like the atmosphere here. It's a small residential place, they've got 2 or 3 caregivers that look after about 7 women (I believe they are licensed for up to 14). It has a nice homey atmosphere, and I like that when you come to visit it really does just feel like you are visiting someone at home. You sit around the kitchen table and talk, or watch TV with them in the living room, things like that.

6 resident max. Cost $3403 plus meds and necessities. The room has it own bathroom, a community shower. Nice yard. A dog and cat. They have a contract with a bus company to take residents to Dr. Appt plus a Dr who visits patients once a month.
