Golden Living Center Golden Age

My husband is well cared for. The staff is always courteous and friendly. I have always had my questions answered and calls returned. I have always found my husband clean and well cared for. I have received calls when needed regarding his stay. Most important, my husband is comfortable being there and likes the staff.

The nursing care at Golden living center on Kings Road in Tomahawk, was great. The nurse aids were very attentive, and wound care was good. However, the facility is extremely outdated. Cinder block walls scuffed and badly in need of painting greet you in a very small and dark room. So small in fact, that the tv is located inside the closet on top of a dresser. Lack of air conditioning made me think I was transplanted back to the 50's. Rooms were sweltering in the afternoon summer sun. Only the day room is air conditioned. Fine if you aren't stuck in your room all day. Food was of poor quality and generally unappetizing. No phones were in the rooms, you had to call the main number, get your call transferred to a portable phone which was then ferried to the patient's room. One universal phone to do for everyone. Not sure how that fits into infectious disease plans. I would not recommend it or would not want my loved one there again.
