The first person I hired from Gerontology Home Companion to take care of my mother was absolutely wonderful. When my stepfather came home from the hospital, he let her go because he thought he could handle the situation-he was wrong. I went back to them and requested the first person, who no longer worked there. They sent another girl, [Removed] and left the house a bloody mess, literally. The police had to investigate if there was [Removed]. There was not, just gross[removed] that led to my mother falling in a bathtub and getting very injured. This person was an hour late in picking her up at the hospital. I found out about all this after the fact, and was horrified. I lived in another city. Just goes to show you never know with all these places. Hopefully they have a better screening system in place. I know they fired this woman, unfortunately too late for my mother's bad experience.
