The move in process was good. The food is good. Staff is very friendly. They clean the residents' rooms weekly. Communication with the family is great. I gave a low score on cleanliness because the hallway carpet smells like dog feces and urine. Overall, I would recommend this facility to anybody.

GenCare was awesome. We placed our 91-year-old father-in-law there. He really enjoyed being there. He quickly made friends. The food was good. We had several meals there with him. They have a lot of activities, and when my father-in-law passed away, they were just wonderful helping us get through that.

My loved one is a resident at Scriber Gardens and things have been great for her at this facility. The staff is always friendly and willing to help. The housekeeping is good, but they should mop the floors in the apartments. I have eaten 3 meals at the facility. Two of them were excellent, one time the chicken was undercooked. I would highly recommend this facility to family and friends.

Be cautious of what they tell you when you're moving in. They told me they would evaluate me to make sure I could be at the rate I was paying. They never did that. I was in much worse shape when I first got there and thought I would be getting more care. Nobody really came in to talk to me about my health situation or what I needed, or to even check on me. I also asked them three times for the paperwork that I signed, and they never got me a copy. Basically they had me categorized as Independent Living, but it was supposed to be Assisted Living. So what management told me when I moved in is completely different than what I got out of the place. Beyond management, the rest of the staff are great. They're all very friendly - no problems there. The facility was generally clean, except the dining room tables weren't always wiped down well. The people who cleaned my room were really good. They seemed to have activities going on throughout the day if you wanted to go. But ultimately I felt like I was throwing away thousands every month. Most of the time I couldn't eat the food it was so bad. And you can't live solely on cheese burgers. 90% of the time the food was cold. And the quality really depended on which chef was cooking each meal.

This facility is more up to date and senior friendly than others around. With a kind care staff and passionate team of Directors it's no wonder the residents here are comfortable and happy! What a great activity schedule they offer along with a fitness director to keep your loved one active and strong.

I toured GenCare today; I met both [name removed] and [name removed]. GenCare was an older facility than others I had visited. I liked the options for organic, gluten free food, very hands on-pride themselves on a personal touch and keeping seniors physically active.

I had a good tour of GenCare Lifestyle. The lady that took me around was very pleasant and she answered all of my questions. The facility was older, and the atmosphere was depressing. It was not the best for my mother.

My tour of this community went well. The community looked neat and tidy. From what I saw everything was well maintained. The staff I met was nice and friendly. They were also informative and answered my questions. It was a good experience, it was a nice tour of a good community.

My father is very happy here with the care at this community. He loves that the staff is friendly and takes excellent care of his needs. The food is very good and he likes the variety. Activities are great for him to stay active with others. We would recommend the great care for other families for their loved ones.

I'am doing fine with this community and I have adjusted well to it. Only problem I've had have been with the Air conditioning does not work, I wish I would have known that before moving in. Over all everything is nice and everyone is very friendly. They offer great activities through out the week. The staff is great, they are very kind and helpful. I would say this community is a little bit expensive. I do like it here and I would recommend it.

They gave me good information. I also made a lot changes when I first got there to my room and they were ok about that. The first room didn't have windows. They were really nice about me having change. They are great.

First whiff was a mixture of smoke and perhaps a pet store? The residents were super friendly and seemed to adore the staff.

The surface amenities are only the start in evaluating the community. Questions such as How long does it take to get your meal? What activities are there and when are they? What is the participation? What are the safety rules for FIRE, electrical outage or Storm damage? Can the resident walk to dinner at least four times a day? What activities are of interest to the resident? Many people are looking only for a place to live and have no interest in the life of the community. You need to have an interest for improving your abilities this is not a mortuary but a living vital organism which requires the cooperation of the residents.

A Place for Mom has scored GenCare Lifestyles at Scriber Gardens 9.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score.
