On the outside this place looks like the sort of home you would like your loved ones to thrive in, but unfortunately behind closed doors it's a completely different experience. Prepare for your loved ones to go downhill faster than you could blink. The owner is verbally intimidating to the residents and will make physical threats (smashing porcelain, using profane language, taking away time measurements, etc.) to make them feel so small that they are afraid to speak up. Avoid at all costs.

I met Bernie Rosario approximately 10 years ago when she and her team cared for my neighbor’s parents 24/7. Bernie was very caring, attentive, and conscientious with them. Bernie opened her own adult care home approximately 3 years ago. I visited there several times with my father who at the time was living in my home with me while I worked full time. I did have a caregiver come in for him while I was at work. I had also visited several other facilities, trying to prepare in the event it would be necessary to move him to a facility. I truly was attracted to Gardenia because it is so clean, and bright because of the many windows and paint colors. The home has an airy, welcoming feeling, especially in the large common room. There are always home cooked meals, and snacks during the day. The time came when I needed to move my dad on 4-15-12. There was no question that he was going to Gardenia to be with Bernie Rosario and Steve Davis, the owners and caregivers at Gardenia. I was afraid that I would feel terrible leaving Dad there, but my reaction was the totally the opposite. It was truly the right decision. He seemed so at ease from the moment we walked in the door. He was welcomed into the home with open arms and was included in activities as much as he could participate in for the two years he lived there. His dementia had become quite severe. There much interaction with the other residents, their family, Bernie and Steve’s family and other caregivers during his time there. He received excellent care, and it was obvious that he was happy. My father was hospitalized on 3-11-14 and passed away on 3-14-14. Bernie and I were right at his side hugging, touching, and talking to him as his spirit left his body. We were both very blessed to have had this opportunity. I highly recommend Gardenia Adult Care Home to anyone who needs to place a loved one in a facility. If you have questions, I would be happy to speak with you. I can be reached at (Home) [removed], (Cell) [removed], or [removed]
