I have been a resident of Five Star for 7 years. I have loved my time here. Since our new Director came in October, there has been so many improvements made. I am so appreciative of Robs dedication to us, beyond any of the other 4 Directors I have had here. My husband was in this memory care unit for only 3 weeks. Despite assurances to the contrary, this Memory Care Unit was not equipped to work with a physically fit but challenging non docile 73 year old patient. The truly upsetting issue that I’m dealing with now is that despite demanding I remove him with no notice they are charging me for the balance of the month. They also lost valuable personal property of his and raised his level of care with no notice.

When I visited the site the staff was open and easy to reach. When I signed the contract it was more difficult to reach individuals. My family member was hospitalized after a fall. I received a call trying to come to the hospital to complete the process. I found that a little inconsiderate. I was able to get a portion of my money back but I had to make several contacts and be persistent . I have difficulty recommending this site.

It was the best place I looked at for my mother's needs and also closest to my home. The experience was good.

We expected to have PT and OT to be available from the beginning of our loved ones stay but that was not accurate. The facility was very clean, and the nurses, PT and OT for the most part were very kind and helpful. We hear the dinners are cold and that it takes a long time for the meals to come out of the kitchen. There does not seem to be enough help in the dining room and the food was not always tasty. The fees for rent are expensive. They do offer a wide variety of activities. The facility is quite lovely, but I think it is best for a resident who is somewhat independent and care for themselves with minimal assist from staff.

The communication between staff and family members is not very good when it comes to scheduling appointments with doctors ,shuttling residents, or scheduling any kind of service. Appointment times seem to get lost or forgotten in between staff members.

Our team is dedicated to ensuring every detail is handled with care, and it's wonderful to know that we exceeded your expectations!
The overall cleanliness of the facility is as good as it gets; however, the floor nurses are not very good at cleaning my parents' room and I have had to call them in on a regular basis. For example, one day I came in and the bathroom stunk of urine. In terms of care, they should be ashamed of themselves. I hired personal aides that are with my parents 24/7. The floor nurses see this and don't lift a finger to help. I've also seen the way they treat other residents at mealtimes. They sort of shove a spoonful of food at them and generally have a pretty careless attitude. So what exactly am I paying for? As far as I can tell, a one bedroom apartment with food and activities included. For the money (being in NYC) I guess it's okay. Let me know if you'd like to chat. I realize that all facilities are sort of like this except for the very best like Sunrise around the corner from me, but that's $[removed]/month. I just didn't know how poor the overall care was in the general industry. They are for profit institutions and they understaff to make money. Anyway, that's my feedback.

I think Five Star Premier Residences of Yonkers is very good. The staff is very helpful. The move in process was seamless. The meals are good. I would recommend Five Star Premier Residences to others.

Five Star recently increased their prices considerably. They have a new food service company which we thought was going to mean better food but that has not happened. There are frequent issues with the heat and air conditioning I assume due to the age of the building. Staff is quick to address but still an issue. I would recommend them, these are the critiques but I am not unhappy with her being there. I'm sure there are issues everywhere. She has a roof over her head and is safe. I have a different experience with the staff than she does, they are always super friendly to me and for the most part with her too.

This community really felt welcoming. The rooms are spacious. The staff appeared caring... I would recommend to others.

I would recommend to others. The staff is going through a major changeover so that's why that is a 3. Nursing on the 3rd floor [name removed] are excellent. Meals and dining seem a little boring and repetitive.

Our mother is at Five Star and she-- as well as we her family-- couldn't be happier with the quality of care. The staff are genuinely warm, friendly, very caring, in addition to highly capable. They are highly attentive, responsive, sensitive, and go over and above in taking care of her needs--from basic personal to nursing to physical therapy to technical and computer help, and more. They have become a second family to our mom. There are also interesting and fun programs/activities for her to attend, led by intelligent, knowledgeable and talented people. And the food is healthy, fresh and delicious. She has made many good friends-- amongst the residents as well as the staff. We love you, Five Star, for loving and caring for our mom so well!

The staff were generally friendly, and seemed to be caring towards the residents. It seemed the program activities didn't seem to be the best. My loved one wasn't engaged in the activities, and was hanging out in different areas of the community. I never heard about my loved one participating in activities. I'm not sure if the staff were lacking to be able to provide the activities and engage the residents in the activities provided.

The staff at Five Star Premier are terrific and based on our experience so far we would without a doubt recommend this community to other families. We love the special attention and things they do for the residents. There is live music performances twice a week and even sometimes three times a week. The other day when we came to visit they even had an aromatherapy session for the residents. They have excellent medical care from the staff, psychiatrist and nutritionist.

My loved one is very comfortable here. Everyone is super friendly, and helpful. The safety is wonderful. Some of the activities that are available are library, outside performers, book club, cards and games, fitness classes, movies, happy hour, and more for the residents to choose from in the independent living area. The bonus is that if there are additions such as medication distribution there is a fee, but can would be a cost in the independent living area. There is a laundry room available to do laundry. There is dry cleaners available. There is a taxi service that is added onto the monthly bill, if used.

It is wonderful to read that you feel the team, and their fellow residents, are a friendly and helpful bunch. Thanks also for mentioning some of the amenities we have available for residents, all of which help to make Five Star Premier Residences of Yonkers a great place to explore new interests, make new friends, and enjoy every day, all while still having the comfort of being at home.
Our initial experience was not so good, but we have gotten things figured out since then. When we were having issues the supervisor replied right away and action was taken. So far the care here has been ok and he seems happy and well taken care of whenever I go to see him. They do have a nice activities program on a daily basis for residents. Right now they are still shut down so we are not able to visit much inside of their rooms and we have had a couple of issues with laundry. Overall I would definitely recommend them to others who are looking.
