a model what what a nursing home should be

After working in the nursing home setting for more than 40 years in another state. Elijahs Place should be the model for all other nursing home. The staff was attentive to the needs and personality of their residents. My friend and other residents felt safe and cared for from the staff. Their safety was a large part of their care. It looked like the staff enjoyed working there and felt like they are part of the whole team that it take to care of your loved ones. It not easy to place someone in a nursing home but this place is the best that I have seen. The care and respect that the resident and family receive is outstanding.... Read more

Elijah's Place, affliate of Lutheran Homes of Oshkosh, is an assisted living facility for people with Alzheimer's disease and memory impairments. Elijah's Place provides exceptional care for people in early to moderate stages of dementia. We are able to assist individuals with special behavioral challenges such as wandering, social withdrawal, and confusion. We offer private bedrooms with personal bathrooms open to a central living area where there are lots of opportunities to participate in activities, create home-cooked meals, and attend chapel services. Residents particularly enjoy planting, grilling, socializing, and relaxing in our therapeutic garden. We are lucky to have a full time registered nurse and program coordinator/activity director. We happily accommodate short notice admissions and respite care.

[name removed]'s New Home

My mom is a current resident at Elijah’s Place and I could not be more happy about the decision to move mom into her new home. She is having a good time and has many happy days. Her Alzheimer’s made this necessary and she maintains a good and happy attitude more often than being afraid or lonely. Meals, care, activities, and communication are excellent. They really go out of their way to make life good for the residents. Their recent building remodel and other upkeep shows their attention to keeping the feel of a clean and healthy environment. I feel so fortunate to have found this new home for mom.

My Mom lived at Elijah's Place for 6 years. I never had a concern for her safety and the care she received was extraordinary. The dog mentioned in another review is a part of the treatment program which offers a home like setting. The rooms are small but manageable. Too large and the resident is lost. The home cooking is excellent and the residents are encouraged to participate if they so choose, which my Mom enjoyed! Her physical health actually improved while staying there. Good nutrition and excellent nursing care did that.

Nice personnel. Did not ask about my Dad's situation or preferences at all. Was greeted by an alarm and a dog so did not feel professional. Small client population which could be positive. Felt to much put on staff (cook, clean, provide care). Rooms did not have shower and were very small to accommodate much of Dad's furnishings.

Frequently Asked Questions about Elijah's Place

Elijah's Place offers Private and 1 Bedroom. Learn more.

A Place for Mom has scored Elijah's Place 8.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
