What can I say about El Molino Rose Villa…it has been such a godsent to me, my mother, and my family. My mother has been at El Molino Rose Villa for over a year now and she is the happiest and healthiest that I have seen her during her disease progression. All the staff of El Molino Rose Villa are like family to the residents. They have individualized care plans to take care of your family member in the way that they need. It is not one size of care for all. For example, my mother is an artist and they have created an environment full of art opportunities for her to enjoy her passion and to stimulate her mind. Every time I see my mom, she has a smile from ear to ear and I can tell she appreciates the care she is receiving. The facilities are immaculate. Extremely clean, bright, and cheery, and a gorgeous outdoor area for the residents to enjoy time together or with their families. The staff are truly now a part of our family.... Read more

It's a bit on the expensive side but worth it to know that my mom is so well taken care of. The staff are very attentive to the individual needs of each of their residents. I get a weekly update from [name removed] on how my mother is doing. My brother and I could not be happier with where our mom will live out the rest of her life.

[name removed] gave a wonderful COVID 19 tour of the facility. The grounds are manicured and impeccable. The residents are mainly diagnosed with dementia/Altzheimer and the number of residents are 6 max.. El Molino appears to be a caring and wonderful facility.

My sister, [name removed] was a resident at El Molino Rose Villa. The owners & the staff were amazing. My sister had a recent fall at a bigger facility, and had high medical needs. The staff’s dedication to get her walking again, and thrive is what made such a big difference in her life. They took the time to encourage her, to support her. She was very afraid at first, but I could see such a big change in her after a while. Their attention to her, and the other residents is what makes them great. I never thought I’d get her back. Thank you El Molino Rose Villa for all you did for my sister [name removed].

My mother, who suffered from advanced Alzheimer's Disease, was a resident at El Molino Rose Villa. It was, by far, the best of the six different care facilities we toured and considered for her. On a quiet residential street in Pasadena, this board and care home is spotlessly clean and designed for maximum comfort. With a maximum of six residents, there is a great deal of personalized care. Owners [names removed], and their staff of care-givers, know what they're doing. They have meticulous attention to detail, are well organized, provide excellent advice and truly act as partners in caring for their residents. Most important, they really love their residents and love what they do. I highly recommend El Molino Rose Villa.

The most notable aspect of the Rose villa is the attention [name removed] gives to support the cognitive capacities of the clients to preserve whatever awareness, communication skills and quality of life they have. [Name removed] takes time to talk to the clients; the clients are moved frequently from their bedrooms to the living room to the patio; meals are prepared precisely for the individual nutritional needs of each client and a variety of activities are provided daily from live music events to baby and puppy therapy. [Name removed] has a passion for this work of helping those with diminished cognitive capacity remain engaged with the world around them. It is a comfort to all of us to know there are people like [name removed], prepared to devote themselves to those with significant cognitive loss, but who can still respond to the focused, respectful and compassionate attention of those who care for them. - [name removed] and Plowshare, handler and Therapy Dog at the Rose Villa

I toured here while looking for a place for my loved one. I thought this place was wonderful. The couple that owns it is very nice and the caregivers are friendly. The community is bright and cheerful, and the current residents seem very happy here. We would have liked to have moved in here, but there weren't any spaces left when we were looking.

My Uncle was a resident here for a short while and the owner worked very hard with us while he was here. This is a private residence and it is set up for assisted living very nicely with just a few residents so there is more one-on-one care here but my Uncle was in need of memory care that could address his sundowners and he needed a secure environment. I would definitely recommend them for assisted living.

This was OK but not great. Rooms are small and there is only one bathroom for the whole house. The owners told me that they shower the residents every day, which is a definite negative in my book. Daily bathing is not good for elderly skin, which is already dry due to aging. I felt that the owners were a bit condescending to the residents, talking down to them, and I didn't care for that. Elders should be talked to with adult respect, not condescension.

Response from El Molino Rose Villa
December 12, 2016Dear unverified visitor: It seems you have a few facts wrong: First of all, the main house has 2 bathrooms, with 3 total bathrooms on the property, not 1. In response to the daily showers not being good for the skin, the reviewer didn't mention that all our residents here are very well hydrated, and they all receive 2 daily moisturizing treatments. As a health factor, most families know that Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) are very common in the elderly community, and the number one cause is cleanliness. We take pride as being the only Board & Care to offer daily showers. We, as owners live with our residents, and love our residents dearly. As other family reviewers have indicated, we treat our residents here with the utmost respect. How else could we win "Best of Senior Living" in Pasadena 2 years in a row?
I would definitely recommend this community. My mother has been participating in activities to a level of comfort. The meals are good and healthy. The staff has great communication with the family and they are really friendly. The community is up-kept and clean. One of the things that is good about this place is that she is safe.

My mother was here for about a month but it was an amazing experience. This community provides wonderful care, I would honestly say it had to be the best care ever. The staff took very good care of her and her needs. These people are angels. I'am very grateful my mother had the experience to live here.

The staff members are very receptive. If my loved one has an issue, I just call them up and it is resolved. The cleanliness is fine. I have nothing to complain about right now. It is beyond my expectations.

I think they have really done well on how well they treat my mother. They provide her with the needs that she has; they keep her clean and she is happy. It's a good environment for her. They also accommodate all her meal choices. We are happy with it.

We're very pleased by how things have turned out with El Molino Rose Villa! The people here have been very helpful throughout the whole process. It's been a difficult time for our family and they've really done their best to help us through it. I've got nothing but good things to say about them! The facility is clean and well kept, and they take great care of the people who live here.

Response from El Molino Rose Villa
December 1, 2016We have an open floor plan, with 10 windows alone between the dining and living room. We love cooking for our residents and our meals never include "Mac & Cheese ONLY" for dinner. This Anonymous review is very suspicious, unverified and inaccurate.
Nice Home (6 beds)- End of life not for Mom yet!

I thought it was nice. I liked the intimacy of the boarding house sort of concept, but I didn't think it was good fit for my dad. Overall it was a good facility.

A Place for Mom has scored El Molino Rose Villa 9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
