Happy with our experience

We chose Dulaney Valley because it was a hurried situation and it was recommended. This one was closest to my work and I was able to see him everyday. Even during COVID they were so accommodating, they would bring him to the door so I could still see him everyday. The rooms are quite spacious here. When he did eat at the facility, he never complained about the food. My favorite part about the community would be the staff members, they were so kind and great with my uncle. I would recommend the community.... Read more

About the facility Dulaney Valley Assisted Living at Hunt Valley

We have three small, home-like Assisted Living Facilities that are conveniently located in the Towson area. Our facilities are unique in that they are family owned and operated. Our Delegating Nurse has over 30 years experience as a registered nurse and educator in the medical field. She has a stellar resume with expertise in both Geriatric and Hospice care.

Our organization is well known throughout the community and many of our referrals come from families and friends of residents that we have lovingly and professionally cared for. Our facilities are small and home-like. Our residents enjoy the company of 'our family' who are professionally employed as well as the other residents in our facilities.

Our fees are extremely competitive with other smaller assisted living facilities and very much below large assisted living facilities and nursing homes. Our care is extremely professional with a very comfortable and loving touch. Care plans are always unique to meet the family and resident's needs.

We have an excellent reputation throughout the community for the care that we render. Our philosophy has always been 'Aging in Place' which means that should our residents experience a decline in health and more care is...

Review for Dulaney Valley Assisted Living at Hunt Valley

I truly was happy when I got [name removed] out ot there because I wasn't sleeping because of worry & he wasn't happy there either.Unless they have been more selective of their staff I wouldn't recommend. Most of the food dispensenced on Corell, a tablespoon @ a time. examples oatmeal applesauce finely chopped stew, portions were small for a man.

High staff turnover

Due to unqualified aides not paying attention, Dad fell and resulted in hospitalization then rehab. Shortly thereafter was in hospice care all seemed from his fall. [name removed] the office manager is good, but there is lots of staff turn over. Unqualified aides who do not interact with staff. Never ever did I see activities. Snacks were never given unless you brought them. Everyone sirs in living room. Literally no interaction. My father hated every moment he was there.

Would not recommend

Staff seemed to have more patience with the women. People who are fecal incontinent this facility not a good choice. Food portions small. Facility suitable for someone who is able to go the bathroom unassisted and who isn't incontinent. Perhaps someone who has to have surgery or needs respite this would work for temporary placement of their loved one. The admissions administration fee equal and in addition to monthly fee. They are trying to impress by the name "Dulaney Valley Assisted Living in Hunt Valley MD" they are located near, but actually, address is Cockeysville, MD. It is convenient to Cockeysville & Phoenix, MD, but I think they are understaffed by polite, caring, compassionate individuals.

Not a good experience

They are not able to keep staff, every time I go it is someone new. My pastor has ben trying to go and every time she tries to go they deny her and tell her that she can only come Tuesdays and Thursdays which she is unable to do. My loved one has lost a significant amount of weight. He said he is unable to feed the food because of his false teeth. They were supposed to change his diet, but they have yet to do so. One of the aids who is supposed to be watching them, when I go visit she is just sitting in a chair sleeping, she does not help the residents when they need it. I have been in a lot of places and most of them are great and have a lot of activities going on, but there is no mental stimulation going on here. We have also been disappointed with the diaper service, it does not include wipes and is very expensive. If you choose this facility, I would tell you to make sure to buy your loved ones their own diapers.

I would never put an animal in their care

This community sucks and should be shut down. My loved one had to move due to the care that she was receiving. You also have to make an appointment to see your loved one and we did not like this.

Communication could be improved

The main concern we have is the overall communication with the families, but we do know that was probably caused by the staff being short handed.

NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE

My mom was only there 2 weeks but paid for 2 months. we never got any of the money back. Mom was in and out of the hospital not at the assisted Living but for 2 weeks. They were good salespeople but in the end were more greedy then they should have been.

Exceptional care

I wish I had found Delaney Valley earlier, my mom spent the last few weeks of her life there, the staff were all very professional, caring people, they helped my family through a very emotional time. The one on one care my Mom got was exceptional, I will never forget what care and concern my mother and my whole family were given. Very clean and well run!

Go Somewhere Else

My mom passed away after only staying at Dulaney Valley Assisted Living at Hunt Valley. My father paid $6k upfront for 2 months services. He has tried to get his money back but was told to read his contract. He doesn't remember signing a contract and his calls have gone unreturned by the owner. He is getting the run around and he paid in cash. We now have to get a lawyer involved which is the last thing anyone wants at this time but dad needs the money and we have no alternative. I wonder how many people just give up and that leads to this behavior by the owner.

Thankful family

A treasure for families seeking the best. Location and layout inside are excellent. Staff's training and knowledge are excellent. But most importantly, the caring and genuine concern of the director and all of the staff is evident at all times.

An Okay Facility

They could improve on the activities. I never see any. I feel like they are just put in front of the TV and that is it. But i'm not there in the morning, so it may be that they do some in the morning, I am not sure. It's okay, but my mom's hair is always oily and I think they just have too many residents and not enough staff. They do care about the residents though.

This is a large older home. While the care seems to be good, and the staff attentive, the space seems very tight. Furniture is arranged around the perimeter of the activity room to fit everyone. There are stairs to be navigated. Bedrooms seem large enough. Most are shared.

Difficult Illness

This was a very nice place. It is kept very well by the staff. My mother was very well treated here, despite her difficult behavior. She was very difficult to deal with but the staff was very good with her. The Manager stays on top of things, and does an excellent job supervising the staff, and being attentive to the residents. My mother was very well cared for and I am very thankful to have found this place.

This is a wonderful community. The staff is so kind to my brother. They have the patience to deal with him when he is being difficult. I toured several other communities and I knew this was the right place as soon as I walked through the door. He has been there for over 2 years and I couldn't be happier.

perfect place for my mother

My mother was at Dulaney Valley at the Cockeysville location for 3 years before she passed. My mother had the best care there. I would recommend anyone to live at this home. We never had issues with anyone. The place is beautiful. Very clean and the staff were great. They have an on site doctor, ex-ray s, foot doctor, they take blood work, they do everything. must see place.

Nice looking place, our experience wasn't great

This was a nice looking community, and we were looking forward to using them on a long term basis, but we were told only a few days after moving in that our loved one was not appropriate for their community. We had been very explicit about her issues, and they assured us it wouldn't be a problem, which did not turn out to be the case. It was very upsetting having to go through the whole moving process and then have to leave a few days later.
