Overall my husband received good care. They were very attentive to his needs at this community. All of my interactions with the staff were mostly very positive. This was an open community also and they were not locked for memory care. They were also mixed with assisted living in this community. I would recommend this community to anyone else looking for a place for their loved one.... Read more
Situated just minutes from the Missouri and Kansas border, Country Place Memory Care rests near the slow meandering waters of the Marmaton River. The community offers memory care in a comfortable, homelike setting surrounded by the small-town charm of Fort Scott, Kansas. Far enough from the hustle and bustle of Kansas City, Country Place and its experienced caregivers encourage residents to live independently, while help is always nearby to lend a hand. The energetic community, spacious accommodations, and fantastic amenities are just a few of the things that make Country Place a great place to call home.
The spacious campus features smooth walking paths and a secure courtyard where residents can relax while enjoying the outdoors. The 12 suites create an intimate environment that allows residents to have their own space while remaining close enough to make lasting friendships. This smaller community provides personalized care and is a great alternative to larger, more clinical senior living settings. Experienced caregivers create personalized care plans to serve the unique needs of each individual. Caregivers can help residents with tasks such as activities of daily living, medication management, and socialization. Three delicious home-cooked meals are served daily in the dining room, where residents are...

This used to be a welcoming and caring facility. “Credo” now feels like a ghost town. I suspect that many residents have gone elsewhere. Communication with family members is basically non-existent. The staff seems to try their best, & the Activities Director is a gem! Sadly, the “assistant” director makes herself unavailable and is barely on the premises. (Who is the “director”???) The only official communication with Credo and the outside world seems to occur when there is a price increase. Very disturbing.

This is a lovely facility that has the potential to be the best in the business. Unfortunately, the company behind the facility cares more about the bottom line profit than the needs of the people who bring them that profit. Since [date removed], my mother has received an increase in her monthly fee several times. We went from paying $3500 per month to $5445 per month even though the services provided were about the same. With the continued graying of our population, there must be someone who realizes they have job security and sure profits if they will charge a reasonable rate and keep their suites occupied instead of over-charging the residents in a less than half capacity facility. While there are some very caring people employed here, I have to provide housekeeping and personal care to my mother on a regular basis due to lack of supervision to see that staff do the things that need to be done. It is sad to see the seniors' life saving being drained by a greedy company.

We chose Country Place because my parents were both in another Country Place in another location so we knew the company. When speaking to my dads doctor, they also recommended this location for memory care. The staff has turned over so we do not have a good feel for the new staff quite yet, but the staff that was here before were very attentive and caring. I do not think that dad could be in a better place, someone from our family goes at least once a day and we have been happy with them. I would recommend to others looking, just make sure you are an advocate for your loved one.

A Place for Mom has scored Credo Senior Living 1.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
