My mom was in this place for two weeks and was worse off physically than she was when she arrived. First off we rotated shifts as a family so we knew the staff comings and goings my mom had an aneurysm and stroke and need care around the clock which they did not provide. It was 1 LPN and 1 CNA per shift. They are very short staffed. My mom wasn’t turned or changed every two hours shoot not even twice a day most days. We would have to ask for her to be cleaned and for pain medicine. Her therapy was not being given as prescribed. Her catheter bag leaked in a trash can. Vitals were not being taken causing her to go days and get progressively worse. She got a bed sore that became infected and caused her to be septic. Oh and her room mate fell and was hospitalized as well all over a two week span! Run and save your love ones like we did!

Everything is going well. The staff was great and it was clean. We looked at it before we admitted my loved one, and everything was clean with no smell. The rooms were clean and it passed my 100 percent satisfaction.

So far good! I know that they have my mother doing therapy, Monday through Friday, a few hours a day. She seems to be really happy with the program and I am seeing progress with her. I have dealt with the facility before, visiting a friend at the facility, so I am familiar with Colonial Oaks. The staff is pretty friendly. I sure would recommend the facility to a friend, of course, I would, I have my mother here.

I would recommend them. My loved one came home today from his stay. While he was there they were very nice to him and he did very well while he was there. He had to go to the hospital and he is now home but the staff was great throughout his stay. They do offer plenty of activities. She did like most of the people there. The food was alright. They are not without problems. I complained to the main director but it is still missing and will not be replaced. They continued to wake her up early even though I wanted them to wait until later in the day.

Colonial Oaks Living Center has been great! Prior to this facility, my loved one was in another place that wasn't anything like this. That place really let us down. Colonial Oaks has been such a difference. They are doing a great job. All of the staff members have been wonderful. They also all seem so capable and kind. We really appreciate how accessible the facility is laid out so that the residents can be easily helped. This place is much more appropriate for her.

The people in Administration were very helpful and nice. I did not get an opportunity to interact with anyone else.

So far we have fairly enjoyed the experience at Colonial Oaks. It really has been very good and the staff has been very friendly. Sometimes I have concerns about staffing. In the area where my mom is there can be one nurse available verses at least two. Other than that it is going well with the facility and I definitely would recommend them to a friend.

They serve three balanced meals a day. My son signed papers saying he would take my husband's clothes home to wash. Still, they have taken clothes out of his room and have lost them.

It is very nice and my loved one loved it. It is very clean and they keep the place up. She liked the rehab but some of the nursing staff are not as professional as some others.

My loved one said that the staff is doing well and do what he wants when I am here. It is very clean with no odor. He needs more physical therapy.

The facility is clean. They could provide a remote control so my loved one could use the television. They did not explain anything when arrived, like where her closet is.

Response from Colonial Oaks Living Center
February 6, 2020I am so sorry to hear you were not satisfied with our services. Did you talk with anyone about your dissatisfaction while staying with us to see if we could address all of your issues? As far as being understaffed, that is incorrect. We always have staffed above the state requirements. Sometimes if may feel as if we are understaffed if we have staff helping others that may need to take longer with various tasks and can’t get to everyone as timely as they would like. If you would like to provide us more information about your issues, I am happy to follow up and address them and look into it further.

A Place for Mom has scored Colonial Oaks Living Center 1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
