The community is also close to the Western Kentucky Botanical Gardens, which hosts many entertaining and educational events throughout the year and has a reputation for being one of Owensboro’s hidden gems.
There’s plenty to love about this community. You might tend to the plants in the raised gardening beds, or enjoy a peaceful evening in front of the outdoor fireplace. Inside you can enjoy some popcorn while watching a classic film in the movie theater, or gather neighbors for a board game in the rec room. We, too, were awed by the “resort” atmosphere of CedarHurst. So much so that we moved our loved one into Memory Care. It is not, however, what you think. Most issues are related to the staff. The (most not all) RAs are not interested in doing their jobs as our loved one lacked proper basic care. A lot of time was spent sitting and talking or looking at their phones. If management was doing their jobs this might have been different but we hardly saw any management around unless they were walking out of their office to leave the memory care unit. The apartment was always dirty and had ants. The laundry was not handled well as things disappeared. The bedding was changed far too many times by family because it was dirty. We had a constant problem with the staff not covering the bed with the mattress pads we provided. The food was almost always cold when the staff serving it were right there but were in no hurry to serve it. Absolutely NOT worth the huge price tag.

Response from Cedarhurst of Owensboro
January 31, 2024Thank you for choosing Cedarhurst of Owensboro! We're delighted to hear that our environment appealed to you, and we're thrilled to have such a positive recommendation. Our knowledgeable and helpful staff is committed to making every resident feel at home. If you ever have any further feedback or suggestions, please don't hesitate to share.
The experience was very good. The apartments are very nice, and roomy, not sure on amenities. It would be nice, if someone is put in the hospital and you want to come back they give a discounted rate to hold the apartment!!!!

Cedarhurst of Owensboro was gorgeous - it looked like a resort. I though it was a very, very nice facility. The staff seemed very friendly as well.
We have a loved one there now, the facility is beautiful, new, and clean. They have been very accommodating during Covid so that we can always see our loved one. On the other hand it has been a struggle since day one to get the staff to take care of some basic needs, and the price started at $[amount removed] and is increasing to $[amount removed] per month on January 1st 2022 for our loved one, we may be forced to move our loved one, which is going to be very hard on our loved one.

We had a great tour with Cedarhurst. The facility was brand new and beautiful but way overpriced for us.

A Place for Mom has scored Cedarhurst of Owensboro 7.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
