My Mom lives here currently and things have been amazing. The staff checks on her every 20 minutes and we have an additional caregiver that spends time with her throughout the day. They call me if they have any questions, or if there are any issues, and their overall follow up is great. I can call them and get an answer back right away. The food is good from what I’ve heard and they seem to be very accommodating with giving Mom what she wants. The building is very clean and housekeeping comes by once a week to thoroughly clean her room as well as do her laundry. The care at this community was not what we were expecting, however our loved ones family member did not want to pay for the extra services she needed. Due to not having those extra services, the care she received was sub-par. The friendliness of the staff members were pretty good. We do think they charge to much for some of the things that are more basic.

If your Mom can take care of herself, then this is the place for her. My Mom was recovering from a broken ankle. Additionally, she still smoked cigarettes. A smoking schedule of every two hours was agreed to. Well, that did not work out so well, as they are short staffed. Therefore, friction between Mom and some employees was there from the start. They even required us to hire an additional Caregiver for our Mom at our own expense, as they said my Mom was too hard to handle. We were moving Mom anyway to Hospice due to Terminal Lung Cancer, although, the Caregiver requirement was given before the cancer diagnosis. We had to hire a Caregiver for Mom for $29.50 per hour for two weeks until we could find her her a new Adult Foster Home (Hospice). To add insult to injury, the Executive Director in charge In Prineville tried to bill us over $2,000 after we left. There is no bill if you are asked to leave, which is what happened in this case. Check out my complaint on the Better Business Bureau website for the parent organization Enlivant. The Director or anyone else would even discuss this with me... the initial response from accounts receivable was, “it’s not my job.” In closing, accounts receivable finally apologized to me for Prineville refusing to discuss the situation with me. I was told, it was the Prineville’s Executive Director’s Supervisor who eventually made the decision to actually give me a refund of $191.. however, for two months that Mom was there, it cost me over $8,400! This does not include the $6,500 check that I had to write out to the Caregiver organization. I did receive a $2,001 refund from them. So, was Carriage Place worth the $12,900 I had to pay for the short time? Some of the Employees were golden, and I would trust them with my life. However, one person in particular should not be working with the elderly population. If I had to do it all again, Carriage Place would not be my first choice.

Response from Carriage Place
August 16, 2019Jeff - we appreciate you taking the time to leave us feedback. We respected the every two hours smoke schedule, as was agreed upon by everyone. When this schedule changed and certain protocol wasn't being followed was when we decided extra help would be the safest option for everyone. We know this transition hasn't been easy for you or your mother, and we agreed to forgive the debt as a courtesy. We're sorry you're walking away from our community unsatisfied, as that is never our goal. Don't hesitate to reach out directly to us for further discussion, or you can contact our Enlivant Cares line. We wish you and your family the best of luck. Thank you.
My mom is healthier and happier now that she is at the Carriage Place.

Carriage Place is absolutely wonderful and is set up perfect for memory assistance so my dad can walk around and I know that he is safe there. They call me with any issues and keep me well informed. My dad has some trouble transitioning and is slowly starting to like it there. He absolutely loves going to the dining room, he likes joining his friends there and he loves the food. The menu changes weekly and the residents can order in between meals too. They offer a shuttle for residents to do their shopping and field trips. I would absolutely recommend Carriage Place to my family and friends

Things went pretty good with Carriage Place for the first 4-5 days. Then they had a false fire alarm, and nobody ever came to tell her that it was false. She spend the whole night worrying about what to do and whether or not the place was going to burn up. So overall it was not a very good experience and we ended up having to move her out of there.
