I think the cost is consistent with the other places we investigated and my mother has a private room. They do well with the care. There's cards there, there's television, but for my mother, those aren't really that relevant. She wouldn't participate in those. I think they have games there and so forth but I really haven't investigated because my mother is just not interested. I'm pretty happy with the situation right now. My brother and I are both pretty happy with it and I think my mother's happy where she is too. When you first walk into the place you have to get a good first impression and we got that here.... 5 board and care homes (4 within San Jose area). 6 beds per home. Informal atmosphere. I'm not sure J would be happy in this setting. They would be willing to accomodate a 1-2 month stay. Cost is a bit more but includes all care.

Private home in a string of 4 contiguous residential care homes on one side of quiet, well-kept cul de sac. Lots of parking and easy to get to. Staff seemed genuinely caring and alert. Kitchen area small and cluttered; cleanliness okay, but clutter makes it look unkempt. Living area a little dark and small. Backyard is [removed] you can walk the length of all 4 houses, yard well-kept. 4 current residents, can have 6. Two possible shared [removed] the smaller one opens to backyard with glass doors, sunny in afternoon. The larger one opens to driveway with glass doors. Meals are tailored to residents, they try to provide activities and stimulation, but no medical care beyond administering meds and helping with hygiene as needed. They have room for 2 hospice patients & currently have one. We would need to pay for and provide any future needed skilled nursing staff. Residents seem happy and well-behaved. Mani provider onsite; they will take to other appointments as needed with our authorization. Did not ask if this is included. Personal supplies not automatically included
